Came across this on a political forum and thought it was interesting ...

-----------------------------------------------------

What's funny about 3rd party candidates? Nothing.

They should be taken seriously, because they can change elections. Laugh all you want, but the Bob Barrs and Cynthia McKinneys of the this country get votes, and you should be examining why they get so many, not making fun of them.

I'm voting for a 3rd party candidate this year and so are many people I know. If Obama loses this election, it will be in part because he's not different enough from his Republican rival to dissuade people from turning to 3rd party candidates. But despite Obama, we need more political parties in this country, and that's the trend of the future. We are sick of the 2-party non-choice.

Even Washington does not take them seriously...However most younger people are Independent...I see in my lifetime a third race taken more seriously...People need to educate themselves on their voting options, and research not just walk into a booth and vote based on what they are told on tv. Thinking for yourself is an option in this country and there are A LOT of people that need to be told this. Thank you for posting this.

i think that as the younger voters start looking into other option besides the republicrats we will see the popularity of third party candidates go up. i have all too often heard the older generation in my family say they are r or d and that will vote that way no matter what  (which to me is very sad). with the internet generation coming into their voting own they will be the ones looking beyond the propaganda mass media we have on the tv and looking into and supporting third parites. hopefully they will share their knowledge with those around them.

great post jan

I hope that everyone who reads this will flood the news-media with letters insisting that they give more air time or print space to third party candidates, especially Bob Barr.  (Sorry, I had to plug my candidate!)  I hate to break it to Mr. Obama, but the only way we'll have REAL change in this country is by letting people challenge the two major parties.

I refused to vote the "better" of two evils.  Chuck Baldwin has my vote!

In my opinion, it isn't even a two-party choice anymore. There are very few variances in the Democrats and Republicans. It's about time our country started seeing the importance of having political representatives that actually rally for change that reflects what the citizens of their state and country are longing for. Third party candidates are supplying a need that voters have been over-looking until recently. It would be nice to see more media coverage for Third party representatives. In my opinion, it is obvious that the media is afraid to consider Third party coverage and give it a fair shake. You have to wonder. Why? There is a wind of change coming. Our young people are ready to take on the job of making a difference. They are hungry for it and the, "Big Boys", up on Capital Hill better be paying attention.

Democrats =Socialists, Repbulicans = Facsists .... It's no wonder the third party is becoming more popular, The two-party system no longer represents freedom and the Constitution.

Unfortunately, too many people are too afraid to admit this to themselves.

A wise woman I know recently stated, "You can take the best from the Democratic Party, the best from the Republican Party and combine the two and you have the Libertarian Party!". I couldn't have said it better my self!

No matter which 3rd party candidate you're thinking about voting for, "We the People" need to keep this conversation going ... that the R and D stronghold on politics is about to become a thing of the past ... and that 3rd party candidates will be moving more and more into the political arena of the future!

I am still checking out the 3rd parties stand... but I agree that the media hasn't shown anything about them but we see when Obama or the old guy comes  anywhere near our city

We might not make a big impression in this election year but, if we can continue to make ourselves heard through the next four years...... You can be sure we will make a HUGE difference in the next one!
