The Toadily Grand Siggie Police..

Many times the term "siggie police" is used in a deragatory way. My feelings are that if someone joins groups or "scouts out" groups with the sole purpose of looking for illegal signatures, then it's not something of which to be proud and truly deserves the negative connotation associated with it.. In respect to TGSP, we don't do that! We simply do not allow the use of illegal signatures in our group.. If we see one, we will let the member know and we WILL delete the signature. By doing this, we are protecting our group, the designer, Cafemom, the member and respecting the law and the artist..
We feel it is our responsibility to inform our members and thereby, hopefully, prevent them from being involved in copyright litigation, prevent our group from being closed and give credit where credit is due. The artists that create these graphics depend upon monies generated from the sale of these graphics for their livelihood, just as you and I depend upon our jobs for our livelihood. When a graphic is used illegally, you are actually stealing and taking food out of the mouths of these artists.
If the staff of TGSP sees illegal use of copyrighted graphics on pages we may visit while trying to answer profile questions, we feel it is our responsibility to the Cafemom member to let them know that the graphic is illegal. The rule of thumb is, if you don't know where it came from , don't use it! If you know the artist, please check his/her Terms of Use (TOU) and abide by those terms! The Cafemom Copyright Corner is a great place to go for a list of "no-no" artists. For instance, Disney and Gorjuss are both listed on the "no-no" list. Don't use anything from Disney! Don't use anything from Gorjuss without purchasing a license.. These are only 2 of the sites listed. There are dozens more..
When Staff members of TGSP alert you that the graphic you are using is illegal, we are doing this to protect you! We truly have your best interest at heart and are in no way being rude! By law, we are required to report abuse to CILM. Instead, we choose to educate you and give you the chance to remove the graphic before the wrong person sees it and you are reported. Please don't take our suggestions in the wrong way. We have a post in our group that explains illegal use of signatures in much greater detail. Any of the designers in TGSP will gladly answer your questions on this issue. You just need to ask! If we don't know the answer, we'll research until we find it!

Hey Peachy, I totally agree with your journal, and understand that all of you admins are just trying to protect those of us on CafeMom. I think all group owners and admins should do the same in their groups. Besides, just think how creative we might discover we really are and can be if the easy way out is not there. So keep up the great job all of you doing and thank you for all your time and effort all of you put into making this the best group ever.

Thank You and the TGSP staff for all you do for us! I love the group and it's good to know someone is looking out for all our best interests. CafeMom is supposed to be a comfortable place for us and it's Moms like you that help to keep it that way! Thanks again... *voting pop!*
ok this stuff is really confusing...how do i know??? I looked for the no-no's post and couldnt find it, but I did look on the link aboves absolute no-no's and realized I have a Betty Boop Labor Day Sig...(getting rid of it), but being fairly new to cafemom and all, is there a way to tell, like when I am on photobucket....if its an ok image?

Thanks we all need to know this information. I do my best not to post anything that is copyrighted. This information and the other you have IS VERY IMPORTANT ! I personally thank you for all the hard work you and all the staff are doing to help us with this.
