1. I learned that achieving a goal is a process.   You have to chip away at it day after day.

 2. I learned how good it feels to feel strong.

 3. I learned that you don't have to look like what you think a triathlete should look like in order to be one.

 4. I learned that if you're not having fun, you might as well go home and drink a warm soda.

 5. I learned not to make excuses.

 6. I learned that when you do something you've never done before, no matter how fast or slow you did it, or how well, it's a personal best.

 7. I learned how important it is to have the support and encouragement-sometimes even the direct orders-of friends and family.

 8. I learned how to beat back the voices of despair and doubt as if my life depended on it.

 9. I learned that it is possible to go farther and do more than you ever thought you could-and then do three times as much.

 10. I learned that it's ok to cry when you get to the finish line.
