TOO many chiefs? ( DYFS again!)

The last day of my foster parent training class I ran into the man who I was told would be able to answer the *are we getting licensed?*question.

Little Man's psych and counselor both sent glowing reccomendations and even stated how they thought having the princess in the house has helped Little Man grow etc.  

So I brought this up to ... we will call him Harry.  Harry then tells me "well there are other issues...you are on meds aren't you? and your sons has meds he takes..."

Well YES and I have never hidden this from ANYONE and no one has told me before this that it would be problematic.  I did mention to him I was asking my doc to wean me off the anti depressants.  I started taking them in 2006 when my mom passed away and since I plan to continue to see a counselor I think one less pill in my life is a good thing.

I did inform him that all meds are kept in a locked safe that only dh and I have the combo to - in our bedroom.  There is NO WAY any of those kids could get into them!

So he told me - it wasn't up to him ( of course it's never up to the person you are speaking with) and his supervisor will be back from vacation this week.  So - tomorow I plan on calling OUR resource worker who came out to do the interviews ( the one who told me Harry was her supervisor) and just asking nicely if any progress has been made. ( you know playing dumb) If I get passed to Harry I will let him know that I'm well aware of many foster parents in their 70's who no longer drive and take a myriad of heart medications but yet they get licensed! and I do intend to go above his head and take this to Trenton if need be - I already have the numbers!

Lesson to be learned here???

OK, Harry needs to get another line.  Who in today's society is NOT on some form of medication???  Why should that be an issue when people who abuse their foster children is not????? 

Lesson learned from this one,  don't piss off Momma Bears friend!!!
