Aaaagh...finally....a quiet house!!! Well, until Julia wakes up, that is! :0) Malcom and Adrian started school yesterday, and I am soooo happy to say that they both love their school, AND their teachers! They had no problems making friends and finding their way around, big difference from how they adjusted in California. (sorry SoCal girls, I still love you though!) People in California are just...well, dare I say it?.....another breed!!! If you were born in California and have never lived anywhere else, then you have no idea what I am talking about. But if you have ever lived in CA for a while, and then moved out of state....BIG difference! It is so nice being back in Washington...people look you in the eye and say 'hi'! Imagine that!!! Okay, so I am getting off track here...where was I? lol

Jordan, my baby...he started HIGH SCHOOL today!!! SAY WHAT???? How is this possible? Am I really old enough to have a kid that is in high school? I can remember crystal clear my first day as a freshman. Whoa. I am trying not to think about what I was like at that age...it doesn't just trip me out...it FREAKS me out!! Oh God, please help my poor boy!!! :0) I am so thankful for the relationship that I have with my son...that is one of the biggest blessing that came from our isolation in California. Our family came together like never before...we became friends...we had only each other, and we found that that was all we needed. So I am confident that I sent a well balanced boy off to the first day of a major chapter of his life. Well balanced he may be, but the child still has me help him fix his hair!! I love it! I remember Jordan's first day of kindergarten, I fixed his hair then too! And coincidentally, Jordan began school here in WA...how nice that he gets to come 'home' to finish where he began. I am also relieved to report that sometime over the summer, my son finally developed a sense of style!!! FINALLY!!!! I will admit, I am happy that up till now he has been unconcerned with how he looks or what he wears. Last year, many was the day that I would have to FORCE him to change his shirt! His theory was that if he kept his hoodie on all day, no one ever saw what shirt he was wearing anyway!! lol Things have changed though, that is for sure! He stands in front of the mirror an awful lot lately...but I am not complaining! For the first time in his life, I don't have to make him brush his teeth, change his clothes, fix his hair, wear deodorant...wow!

As I helped Jordan put 'product' in his hair today, I just had to smile. This man-child is mine! Sure, he towers over me at 5'10" to my 5'1"...but he still needs me. Wow...that statement just floored me. Those words are resounding in my head right now...He needs me....I can think of no greater honor than to be needed. I am needed. And oh so thankful for the needy. Happy school year everyone, let's make this one count!

This makes me weepy....my boys aren't allowed to be freshmen! As for moving to a place where people say hi, i miss that to. i lived in a small town, little of 700, people and we all lived together. People watched other peoples kids without asking. You could pick up someone on the road and give them a lift without worrying about being killed. You could also say goodmorning and ask about someone's day wihout knowing them. I miss towns like that. In houston everyone is ticked off and doing their own thing.

Ang, Ang, Ang, lol I can soo can relate to your post!!  You know I also have a teen now and WOW now I understand why it is a challenge!!  I look back and actually feel kinda bad for my mom who had to deal with that stage 5 times!!!! LOL but we'll survive it together b/c we are strong and we are CM mamas 4 life! lol!

Anyways, girl I am soo happy knowing that you & your family are doing well & adjusting great.  I'v never been to CA but I hear ya!!  Your not the first I hear that from.  I think that with-in every state there are different breeds of ppl.  Growing up in NYC where it was a hectic way of life and FAST pace no one really stopped to greet or anything.  I now live in rural PA and it is a much much SLOWER pace, and although most 'folks' are friendly I have had a difficult time adjusting!!!!!  Not accustomed to that kind of lifestyle, and believe it or not don't like it here too much.  It's also boring!!  I miss the excitement of the city life and find myself drawn to it and making trips over there very often.  Like the ol' saying goes....You can take the girl out of the city BUT you can't take the city out of the girl!!  Truthfully, you know I am here now b/c it is a better life for my kids.  Crime is low, schools are better, etc..  The only 2 things I really don't miss about the big apple is the pollution & crime lol  BUT the fact still remains that the city life is all I'v known all my life so I LOVE IT!!  Guess you can say I'm that other type of breed. Weird i know...LOL!! Luv ya Scarry!!!  Stop by 'The Lounge' soon and have a drink or 2 with me and let's shoot the shit. haha.

blowing kisses

Sep. 8, 2008 at 4:02 PM OMG.... I just read this... and then re-read...... I can most certainly wait till my 2 get in high school! The mere thought scares me to death! lol:) I did LMAO though at your comment about people acting speaking to you! I've never lived in a huge place like that.... Raleigh, NC was the biggest place, but around here everyone speaks or smiles.... but what gets friggin irritating as hell is trying to shop or grocery shop or something & someone is following you around wanting to have a damn conversation!!!! lol:) Glad all is well! You're wonderful!
