Dear MomsRising.org member,
Did you see that?! Last night we watched Gov. Palin, a self-proclaimed hockey mom, accept the Republican nomination for Vice President.
As we watched Gov. Sarah Palin's speech, we were dazzled to see a mom on center stage with a baby in her arms, but we didn't hear much about the issues that mothers care about and deal with each and every day. We didn't hear what she's going to do about the fact that a child is born every 41 seconds in our nation without healthcare; or about how she'll address the fact that too few parents have access to affordable early learning/child care for their children. We want to know what she's going to do to make sure mothers stop getting paid less for the same work as men just because they have children.
Ask Gov. Palin where she stands on critically important issues to mothers. See and sign the letter at: http://www.momsrising.org/
We want to know where Gov. Palin, and her running mate Sen. John McCain, stand on issues which impact our families every day. Help make sure she gets this message.
Forward this email to as many friends as possible so that we can send Gov. Palin a letter with a huge number of signatures. Let's let her know that moms are paying attention and that these issues are at the top of our list when we vote (And, we do vote: More than 50% of the electorate are women).
The more moms who sign on the letter, the more Gov. Palin will listen and understand that she must address these issues to get our votes.
Here's that link for signing on the letter to Gov. Palin again: http://www.momsrising.org/
Tonight we're going to watch Senator McCain's nomination speech
which will be on primetime TVs across the nation--and play Presidential
Bingo during his speech. Get your card here http://momsrising.org/
Looking forward to hearing from you!

I was honestly so upset to hear her promise to be an advocate for special-needs children... but she never said HOW. Everything I've seen of their policies would not help special-needs children one bit, so I'm worried that she'll pull in special-needs moms with her false promises to help them. That's nasty and low if she can't back it up with actual policies.
Rana--that's what I'm hearing from all my special-needs kids mama friends, so hopefully, none are oblivious enough not to realize that.
I love reading these posts. I came across a blog the other day Http://housewifepolitics.blogspot.com and I could not agree more with some of the things that are said! I think you would really enjoy it!
oh thank God, someone else is wondering the same things as me.....seems like all she wanted to talk about was *her family*....uh...let's talk about the ISSUES lady!
I am still not real happy with McCain's pick. I think, for a party that stresses family values and all that, his choice was pretty lousy. How is choosing a mom of a four month old who has Down's and has a pregnant 17 year old sticking with family values?! I think the values of this country is very quickly going down the drain, not to mention that with her as the so-called representative for MOMS, that will make those of us who CHOOSE to stay at home be looked down on even more! Ugh, it is just SO frustrating but I can't seem to get anyone to see that. *sigh* They all get ticked of at me and start saying how it's about time women finally get to power. What about the kids?! A mom in one of my groups who even said that that's what formula and nannies are for! Ugh! Since when did moms become SO easily replaceable?
she also chose to take the nomination what, a week, maybe two, before her oldest gets shipped off to Iraq?
they can say what they want about the SAHD being there for her baby and pregnant daughter, but what about prioritizing spending the last two weeks she might possibly have with her son over her political ambitions?

not that I expect her to have any of the appropriate and helpful answers for women.....she is really an anti-woman in my book.....I soooo hope the O-B ticket wins....
