What a day.  I heard "squealing" VERY loud outside my front door up in our Bartlett Pear tree.  I'll make this short - after investigation I found a baby squirrel stuck in the tree.  I called around and found (Mel's) vet who told me I oculd get it down and the mom would come get it.  When I got back with ladder and glove, the squirrel fell out of the tree about 3 feet from me.  I placed it at the base of the tree and watched.  And watched.....and mom didn't come back.  More calls.  Now I have a baby squirrel in a shoe box on a heating pad.  I gave it gatorade and water at the recommendation of the rescue place I left a message with. (they should call back!) I do hope someone can take him!  It's funny though, here I am nursing a squirrel after planting a bb in one's butt after it tore my bird feeder apart.  Irony...I guess.

So then my husband comes home with Heimlich the caterpillar...for real.  so he's in a jar next to the history/creation project with 2 snails in it.

So we are now at 2 adults, 2 teens, 1 pre-teen, 2 dogs, 2 cats, 1 snake, 2 snails, 1 squirrel, and a huge caterpillar.

What next........

 9/5 After being promosed a return call that didn't come, I gave up and started calling again this morning.  I found him a home and we are about to drop him off.  I am so thankful for this lady who actually answered her phone. =O)
As for the big green guy, well, he's just laying around.  He has been rescued out of a pool, so I'm not sure if he'll make it or not.  Hope he turns into something spectacular though!

In their defense, I got the return call right after I got a hold of our local Animal Rescue, they were glad she had a home, cause they already had LOTS of baby squirrels!  I'm just impatient when I have a hungry baby squirrel.  She screamed and tried to get out of the box on the way there she was so hungry, but the lady had a bottle of warm milk waiting. yay, a happy ending.....
