She wants me to give the teacher permission to change instraments. but since she had only been playing it for less than a week I think she hasn't given it enough time to know if she likes it, I told her to give it two more weeks then decide
Am I wrong for this??
Wow sorry to hear your daughter doesnt like the sax,, my daughter will be learning to play the sax this year also..I do hope she likes it though.... I would give her time and maybe try a new instrument... But try to make sure thats its the sax she doesnt like or if theres something else bothering her.

As a musician and music educator I think the best scenario would be to take her in after school one day (soon) and let her try a couple different instruments. Hopefully her teacher will agree with this. That way she'll get a feel for what she might like to play instead of the sax. Woodwind instruments can be very challenging for kids who have midline balance (a very strong right hand but weak left hand or vice versa). I myself am a brass girl for just this reason...and because my mom started me on trumpet when I was five. lol
Give her a shot on trumpet and see how she does. Most of all, talk to her teacher and get her set on "her" instrument soon. The longer you wait, the more she'll have to catch up when she does switch.
Good luck!
