OBAMA, GEORGE.. (youngest bro of Barack).

I have been debating whether or not I should post this HERE, but, as many of us want the truth (or say we do) from BOTH sides, and after reading some negative things about the OTHER side, I decided it was TIME that I did. YOU read it and decide what YOU think about this, ok?
(btw: yes, it is long, but I wanted to find and post different opinions prior to making up MY mind about George Obama and his elder brother, Barack)..

George Obama, half-brother of Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama, has lived in squalor and destitution in a suburb of Nairobi, Kenya all of his 26 years. Even if Senator Obama won't, we, the people, can bring REAL change to young George's life by opening our hearts and wallets. If this election is about Hope and Change, let us give George Obama hope by sending him money, food and supplies. Let us change his life for good through the generosity of private citizens and not through government programs.
What We Can Do (from site with link posted below)
Young George Obama is a vicitm of poverty and familial neglect. We can begin, right now, to bring real change in the following ways:

Have a "Help George Obama" fundraising party. Tell your guests to donate at least $12 each, which is all George needs to live another year.
- Encourage your children to donate proceeds from their lemonade stand to George Obama. Place "Help George Obama" signs nearby to let everyone know the urgency of the cause.
- Petition your local school board to hold bake sales for George.
- Have a neighborhood yard sale with all proceeds going to feed and clothe George. Send any unsold non-perishable items (clothing, furniture, canned food) to George in Kenya.

Hold car washes at houses of worship and pass an extra plate during services to raise money for George.
Where is George?
All we know at this point is that George lives in squalor in Huruma, a suburb of Kenya's capital, Nairobi. We are diligently working to get a physical address or a nearby post office where we can send George money and supplies. We will also send letters to Senator Obama's campaign headquarters and U.S. Senate office to inquire about George's whereabouts. If or when we learn anything specific, we will post it here. Please check back often.

****************************Just wondering what YOU all think of fhis.. I mean, IS his brother, George, who Obama has himself written of, homeless and living on 12 bucks a year? It seems so, but I simply don't know what to think about this one. Has anyone seen a Vanity Fair article about this? Why would Barack, as his older brother, neglect to do anything to help him? Surely, his home is large enough and his wallet thick enough for him to "help a brutha out", no?
The Italian edition of Vanity Fair said that it had found George Hussein Onyango Obama living in a hut in a ramshackle town of Huruma on the outskirts of Nairobi. (the article is next)
Mr Obama, 26, the youngest of the presidential candidate's half-brothers, spoke for the first time about his life, which could not be more different than that of the Democratic contender.
"No-one knows who I am," he told the magazine, before claiming: "I live here on less than a dollar a month."
According to Italy's Vanity Fair his two metre by three metre shack is decorated with football posters of the Italian football giants AC Milan and Inter, as well as a calendar showing exotic beaches of the world. Vanity Fair also noted that he had a front page newspaper picture of his famous brother - born of the same father as him, Barack Hussein Obama, but to a different mother, named only as Jael. He told the magazine: "I live like a recluse, no-one knows I exist."
Embarrassed by his penury, he said that he does not does not mention his famous half-brother in conversation. "If anyone says something about my surname, I say we are not related. I am ashamed," he said.
For ten years George Obama lived rough. However he now hopes to try to sort his life out by starting a course at a local technical college.
He has only met his famous older brother twice - once when he was just five and the last time in 2006 when Senator Obama was on a tour of East Africa and visited Nairobi. The Illinois senator mentions his brother in his autobiography, describing him in just one passing paragraph as a "beautiful boy with a rounded head". Of their second meeting, George Obama said: "It was very brief, we spoke for just a few minutes. It was like meeting a complete stranger." George added he was no longer in contact with his mother and said:"I have had to learn to live and take what I need.
"Huruma is a tough place, last January during the elections there was rioting and six people were hacked to death. The police don't even arrest you they just shoot you. "I have seen two of my friends killed. I have scars from defending myself with my fists. I am good with my fists."

--hope I got the videos straight.. Regardless, the "what ever we do for the least of our brothers", out of the mouth of Barack Obama, bothers the hell out of me. He HAS his own brother who is dealing with having the LEAST- and what has he done about it? On a larger scale; why is Obama one that gives less to charity than most others? I mean, even the Republicans have him beat on what THEY give, percentage-wise.
SO, what do YOU think about this? I don't want to hear that "family is not fair-game".. as I am posting this in response to the many journals about Sarah Palin's family and the nastiness about Cindy McCain, too. Have any of them left a brother (a true relation) out in the cold like this???

well, I wondered if the story was real.. and I found a LOT of postings about him -- front page, NYTimes, Boston Herald, etc.. I mean, it was an AP story and, as even CNN and FOX and others have written and aired their take on it,, I am assured that he IS the brother of Barack Obama. The fact that he lives in squalor and his brother MUST be aware of it is what bothers me. Hell, one of Obama's daughters could give up what it takes for ONE Barbie-doll to give it to their "uncle George" and it would double his income.
Sorry, but the story IS true. Why the MSM has not paid it much notice is, again, beyond me. This is the very first time, in any presidential elaction, where anyone has gotten SO many passes while the other side it constantly lambasted with stories, true or NOT. This one, I am sure, iS true.. Given THAT, what is your opinion on it?
Ii hope the pic here (of George Obama at his "house"; approximately 6 feet by 9 feet in demension.). Now, not ALL of Keny is comprised of "shanty-towns", so, why should the youngest brother of the man who wants to run the biggest and best country in the world be living like this?

I happen to know a great deal about annebeckett's opinions, political and otherwise. You got it wrong about her, judesmomma.
This does seem to be the a real deal, regarding George. I am always one to give the benefit of the doubt, b/c we don't know enough about their relationship with each other (George and Barak, with each other), and whether or not Barak has offered help to his brother. Doesn't look good, though. I kinda doubt George would turn down the help from his brother, if offered any.
May I add a comment? I love my brothers, I love my sister, I love my cousin like a sister, she grew up with me, my mother raised her. But I do have a full blooded sister that was raised with my biological father and we have tried to have a relationship but just did not pan out like one would think it does like in the Lifetime movies and talk shows after being seperated for so long. In my heart I wish her the best but I in no way shape or form feel I am responsible for her life just because I am better off. I have a full blood brother raised with me, who is worth millions, a very successful guy. I look up to him. I was very poor and not doing so great at one point in my life as a single mom. He never came to my rescue nor did i expect him to. I dont hate him or resent him for it at all. I respect and love him dearly and now that I have done more with my life he has a great respect for me too. I guess its a far cry from a true parallel on Obama's half brother situation. Hes a brother from another mother. Nothing more nothing less. They don't even really know eachother. Thats just my thought.
You know what? None of us know squat about this relationship. I have a few siblings that I have nothing to do with. I haven't seen my brother in over a decade. And, so what? That doesn't make me a bad person. You know nothing of this man, or Obama, or their relationship. You can't decide by reading an article and watching some video. Please! You would do anything to hate Obama. Sour grapes over Hillary is all. I can take that you don't like his policies or his platform (which is almost identical to Hillary's), but this kind of B.S. is just that - BULLSHIT.

I dont know, to me it seems like a crock. I mean, yes he has a brother named George. How do we know this is really him? Like in America, there are people all over the world who want their 15 minutes of fame. Unless there is irrefutable proof that this is in fact his brother I wont believe it. As for it being a story in the news, well we all know they like to say and print and report on what will get the the most press. And as far as "George" not having any contact with his mother, well didnt Barack have no contact with his father? Anyway, thats my 2 cents!!!
