Well my dd is 19mths & still bf. Im 13wks. prego. My original goal was 1yr. but still going strong. She loves to nurse & I love to nurse her. I just couldnt see myself stoping at 1yr. so im now going for 2yrs. Well my question is I dont think that I could handle trying to tandem nursing. What about if shes weened by the time the baby comes will she want nurse again? Dd will be 26mths. old when the baby comes. I just dont know how im going to handle it if it comes to that point. Dd is very demanding when she wants to nurse. She dosent care where she is, if you let her she will nlift up my shirt & take im sorry pull my bobbies out just get them! lol
Was just wondering if anybody has gone thru this. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Comments:
i am 10 weeks pregnant and nursing a very insistent almost 22 month old little boy. i'm not really interested in tandem nursing, but not really sure how to get him to wean. it's a bit frustrating. he actually will want to nurse every time i sit down. which is quite annoying, to be honest. at this point i have really cut it down to 3 session: in the a.m. right after he wakes up, before a nap in the afternoon, and at night before bed. some days i don't do the middle feeding, but he simply will not sleep. and by nighttime, nursing is the only thing that calms him down. i don't really have any advice, just wanted you to know i understand. i guess i really need to come up with some sort of schedule, and stick with it. this other thing is, he's worse about wanting to nurse when we are out of the house. so, if we are out and he wants to nurse, he will yell "boobie" and cry until i give in. i'm hoping to wean by my third trimester. maybe that book could be helpful.

Soon she will be old enough for you to put limits on her. There is a book that is very good. It is called Adventures in Tandem Nursing by Hilary Flower. Even if she weans before the baby is born it will help you get thru the nursing while pregnant. I have heard that toddlers often wean during pregnancy although I don't have any experience with that. She will also understand more when the baby comes. I would suggest be gentle but firm.
