Here is some video of the water rushing over the bridge deck between our back yard and the hay fields. This was on the way back from checking the culvert by the pond, and it had been over the top of his boots about 15 minutes before this. He was worried that if the driveway overflowed there would be a surge that would wash out the bridge completely.

I hope the rain let's up for a little while. It's good for the hay though!

Although, we're having just enough rain to keep us from harvesting our hay.

here is what the same spot looks like usually...(click here)

and usually rain IS good for hay, but this year the spring was SO wet and the summer even MORE so...we put up 860 bales last year with one cutting. This year it was 340 and so we did a second cutting a few weeks ago (barely getting it in, the rain poured after we got it in but before the manure was spread) and only got another 180 or so...

we will run short this year if we don't cull the herd severely.
