stripping membranes....i need advice

okay so i'm due in 5 days now....i have an appointment on thursday..three days before i'm due...and my mom said he might ask me if i want my membranes stripped...i was just wondering what other people thought of this...and what exactly it is....if it's very painful i know i don't want to do it...but if not..i may consider it...so please give me some feedback...

I had it done 4 times before i gave birth to my son.  Pain wise I think it all depends on your doctor.  I had two different doctors perform this on me and one was super rough and i was practically in tears.  the other (a much older doctor) was so gentle I really didn't mind it. 

I can't really describe what it is that they do but it takes place at the end of the internal exam.
