I was a very disobedient child! I liked to throw temper tantrums! When it got to the point that my mom couldn't get me to calm down she would put me in my room.  Then one day I kicked in the foot board of my brother's captains bed and I also slammed the closet door and broke some plaster off the wall. Remember I had temper issues!  I'm still learning how to control it!  So my mom spoke to the Pediatrician (who she now works for ) and he gave her permission to put me outside. I know it might sound bad but at the time it was the safest place for me!  I couldn't really hurt myself and my mom could ignore me so she wouldn't hurt me either.  I need to tell you that she never beat me! I got spankings as a kid but not beatings! There is a HUGE difference! My kids are raised in a similar way!  My husband and I believe in time outs and if necessary removing our children from a situation when they miss behave. We also spank our children when we feel it is necessary! So far in the 4.5 years we've been raising our kids we haven't had to do that much!  The kids know the boundaries and limits and they know that if they cross the line they will be punished! I believe in sending kids to there room but that seems like a reward anymore since they have toys and a t.v. in there room!
