I am a little late in sharing these, just so busy. I know bad Mommy!! LOL!

My little man had to get glasses. He was having a problem with itchiness in his eyes, so I figured I would take him to the eye doctor. No big deal right? He would give me drops and I would be on my way..... NOPE!!! Turns out Nicholas has 20/20 vision in his left eye and 20/80 in his right eye. The doctor claims he was born this way. It has to do with the shape of his eye. He told me that it was a good thing I brought him in, or I probably would have gotten a letter home from the teacher saying that he was having trouble reading.

So, my little man now has to wear these glasses everyday. We have a follow up in 6 months to see how things are going. He is then going to refer us to a Pediatric Eye Specialist. We'll see.

I have to say he has been GREAT about wearing them and caring for them. He is just amazed to be seeing properly for the first time in 4 1/2 years!!!! LOL!!!

Just wanted to share some pics.... I think he looks so stinkin' cute in them!!!

The first one is "I am petending to be sad about this Mommy"

My fav (even though it is a little blurry)

Aww... he looks adorable! My little man (my 3yo) has bifocals ordered. I noticed that his eyes tended to cross when he was tired, but at the eye doctor's I found out that it was happening every time he looked at something close up. So, we should have them this week or next and he has to wear them all day.

Has your son put up a fuss about keeping them on all the time? I'm kind of worried about that. Also worried that when he's wrestling the older ones that they'll get damaged. Ahhh!!!!

Jan. 16, 2009 at 5:10 PM When my son was in 1st grade, we got that note from the school nurse. So...we brought to a pediatric eye specialist. Turns out he had a lazy eye, which shocked me because his eye never drifted to one side or the other. The doctor told him if he wore the glasses every waking moment he may get away without an eyepatch. His eyes started to improve rapidly with the glasses and he was good about wearing them for the first two-three years. Then we started the battle. For years we got everything possible, Rec Specs for sports, new frames, then as he got older contacts --- more than once. His lazy eye resolved into a astigmatism, which he has till this day. All through high school we tried to convince him if he wore some kind of lenses he would would be even better at all the sports he played. He was the consumate athlete --- football (quarterback, basketball, baseball and track). The astigmatism supposedly caused a depth perception problem, so how he could do any of those sports well (except track) with a major depth perception problem is beyond me. It took until he was 21 and he asked me for glasses that he was finally convinced. Once he put them on, he was amazed about what he could see and he hasn't taken them off since!
