I have had quite enough of Dara's school and their bullshit. Public schools in general are screwed up IMO, but IPS is super-bad, even statistically.
Yesterday dara got sick at school. The fools that run the place dialed THE WRONG NUMBER and didn't get ahold of me or her father... They didn't even try to call again for OVER AN hour. Within that time my daughter was interviewed AGAINST HER WILL and MINE by a social worker of whom asked her all kinds of OFFENSIVE questions, such as- "Do you feel safe at home?" "are your mommy and daddy nice to you?" etc etc and so forth.. All of that because THE SCHOOL screwed up and called the wrong number...... I guess they assumed that we just didn't care about our daughter and were abandoning her at school. *SO ANGRY* It all happened because OH EM GEE we didn't get the call because the office people at teh school are incompetant fools!
My Zoebug is supposed to start Kindergarten next year, but I refuseto let the public school system ruin her unique personality & bore her to tears. My Zoe is a nutcase and I LOVE it... If I put her in public school it WILL change her.... and the fact that the children are required to wear school uniforms also pisses me off... Yeah, go ahead and rip away all of their individuality, why do ya?
Fuck this. I'm going to look into home-schooling. I think that for our UNIQUE family it will work out the best... then, maybe when they are middle school age I will ask them if they want to attend public school for the socialization + credits they will get for college, etc. I'll leave that decision up to them, just like I left my son UN-circ'ed... It's his choice... and it should be my children's choice as to what kind of school they recieve.
Furthermore, No, my children are NOT "up to date" on therir shots. Dara is, but Zoe and Gabe are un-vaxed. I don't like it that it's a REQUIREMENT BY LAW here that all children who attend public school are vaccinated UNLESS it's a religious thing or whatever. Fuck that. I just don't want to put UNNECCESSARY poisons into my children's bodes. Excuse me for not wanting them to feel unneccessary pain, exposure to poisons, etc merely to prevent diseases that died out 50 years ago. >.<
That is my rant of the day. Comments are appreciated. Please comment if you read this, so I know that you were here reading. =D

I agree with you. I hate public schools. I wish my parents had homeschooled me. Especially because of our religious beliefs. I know my son will be teased and beat up while in school if I allow him to go in. We're also going to be trying kindergarden in a public school, but only because I promised my husband we would. He went to school here in this town, and it's right across the street from our house anyway. I don't think it'll last and I have already been researching at home academies. They send you the work once a week and you get your child to do it by teaching them the stuff then sending it back. We just use their curriculam and add to it for the non-schooling parts of the day. Learning never ends and I get to watch my baby continue to grow. You want socialization, add her to gymnastics or ballet.
