DON'T ASSUME

Don't assume that when you see me in the store that I am overweight because I sit around my house all day eating junk food and watching soap operas on TV. I have a full time job outside my home and I rarely eat junk food.

Don't assume that when you see me I have always been overweight or was overweight as a child.  Actually I didn't become over weight until I was 30 years old.  I have hypothyroidism and I've had thyroid cancer. I had to have my thyroid removed because of the cancer...so don't assume  you know about my life.

Don't assume that because I am overweight that no man would want me.  I am happily  married to a very handsome man who loves me for more than what I look like on the outside.  He loves me because I gave him a handsome and well mannered son, who is our world. He loves me because I have a great heart, and I make him smile.

Don't assume that because I am overweight I don't have feelings like any other person.  I love life, I love to smile, and I love to give to other people, even people I don't know.

Don't assume you know anything about me because I am overweight.  Do you know that I have worn the uniform of this country? I've worn combat boots and camo. I've slept in a hole, I've gone days without a shower and I've carried a loaded M-16. All because I wanted to do something with my life other than just be selfish and sit on my butt and party and go to college.  I've seen things others have only dreamed about, and I've also seen things that are not so nice, things people have nightmares about.

Don't assume you know anything about me because I am overweight.  I still get hit on by men. Even though I wear my wedding ring faithfully and everyone who knows me knows I am married.  I don't hide it.

Don't assume you know me because I am overweight.  I have a life, I was skinny once.  I have dated tons of good looking men, probably more than most women.

Just don't assume anything about people  you don't know.  You don't know their inner demons you don't know what their life was like when they were younger. And just because you see someone who isn't a size 3 doesn't mean they are nasty or lazy or eat junk all the time.  Everyone in this world is important. Just remember that, AND DON'T ASSUME!! God Bless.

I LOVE THIS POST!  I couldn't have said it better myself.  I am overweight due to PCOS and I always find myself trying to explain this to people I don't know because I feel like I'm being judged.  God Bless you for your honesty and thank you for serving your country.

My mom has hypothyroidism too.  Always a thin person until her early thirties.  She is on medication.

I never looked as my mom as overweight or any other person for that matter.  I don't know people's issues, and like my mom, I know that she isn't overweight by choice.

Great post!

Very well said! I know a mom with Graves' disease who was a size 2 until she was diagnosed. Now she struggles to stay a size 10, but she's much healthier. Being in good shape means more than fitting into a single-digit dress size.

I didn't understand until I gained weight and even though I'm back down to the regular size I will never judge someone.  Thank you for serving our country, thank you for your post!
