My play mom sent me this...

[The] Alaska Women Reject Palin rally... was organized by a small group of women, talking over coffee. These women hatched the plan, printed up flyers, posted them around town, and sent notices to local media outlets.  One of those media outlets was KBYR radio, home of Eddie Burke, a long-time uber-conservative Anchorage talk show host.  Turns out that Eddie Burke not only announced the rally, but called the people who planned to attend the rally “a bunch of socialist baby-killing maggots”, and read the home phone numbers of the organizers aloud over the air, urging listeners to call and tell them what they thought.  The women, of course, received some nasty,  harassing and threatening messages.

Never, have I seen anything like it in my 17 and a half years living in Anchorage.  The organizers had someone walk the rally with a counter, and they clicked off well over 1400 people (not including the 90 counter-demonstrators).  This was the biggest political rally ever, in the history of the state.  I was absolutely stunned.  The second most amazing thing is how many people honked and gave the thumbs up as they drove by.  And even those that didn’t honk looked wide-eyed and awe-struck at the huge crowd that was growing by the minute.  This just doesn’t happen here.

Then, the infamous Eddie Burke showed up.  He tried to talk to the media, and was instantly surrounded by a group of 20 people who started shouting O-BA-MA so loud he couldn’t be heard.  Then passing cars started honking in a rhythmic pattern of 3, like the Obama chant, while the crowd cheered, hooted and waved their signs high.

So, if you’ve been doing the math…  Yes.  The Alaska Women Reject Palin rally was significantly bigger than Palin’s rally that got all the national media coverage!  So take heart, sit back, and enjoy the photo gallery.  Feel free to spread the pictures around to anyone who needs to know that Sarah Palin most definitely does not speak for all Alaskans.  The citizens of Alaska, who know her best, have things to say.

I don't expect your kind to *feel* much of anything really.  That's what allows you to make such idiotic comments.

Also, what the hell "truth" are you talking about?  I just told you your statement was false?  You are delusional!

oh, and what does your dog have to do with anything?

"How many people LIVE in Alaska? Not many! In fact, it's has the fourth smallest population. "

okay, so when I do the math 1400 divided by the alaskan population of 663,661 that's 0.0021

so that means 0.2% of the alaskan population that was there - not that big of turn out mathematically speaking.

but I'll be more fair - lets just look at Anchorage alone and assume no one else in the world but anchorage-ites got the message to come. so that's 1400 divided by 261,446 which is 0.0053 or 0.5% of the anchorage population....mmmm, sorry, still not that big of a turn out mathematically speaking.

I think my favorite sign was "Alaska Disasta'".  Loved that one.

Now, for those who want to downplay the significance of this report, look at any city where there have been demonstrations, especially on relatively short notice.  You're not going to get out 100% of the population to turn out for anything--not even for free food or gas.  The point is, it was a big demonstration, no matter how you do the math.  I drove by a demonstration in my area recently (population roughly 1,000,000).  It was a pro-life rally.  There were exactly 3 people there.  Do the math on that one.  (BTW--I'm not trying to turn this post into a Pro-choice v. anti-choice debate, there are plenty of those going on right now.  I'm just showing how meaningless the previous reply is).  Usually, people hold demonstrations when there are related events going on (like a convention).  What is so funny about this one is that these people just can't stand Palin and couldn't wait  for some big event to organize before showing their outrage at her nomination.

How many people LIVE in Alaska? Not many! In fact, it's has the fourth smallest population. It just kills you that people in her own State don't want her in office, huh?

1400 out of 600,000 people?  And what this article doesnt state, is that one of the reasons the amount of people was so high, was because they were pissed at the radio show host for haivng given out their phone numbers on the air.

But good luck with your smear campaign!  Alaskans do want her in office, please dont group all Alaskans together.

I'm not saying the turn out wasn't palatable, any turn out at all for anything says something - I'm simply saying, as a whole 0.2% to 0.5% isn't a statement saying "Alaska will vote for Obama;" only the ballots in November will say that for sure or not.

"mmm,  Democrats for Obama protesting against  Republican runner Palin. Wow, that is interesting, I have never seen one party protest against another party. Interesting, thanks. smile big duh"

There is a pic of a woman with a very clear sign that reads "Voted for her once: NEVER AGAIN" I think it would be safe to assume that this woman, like many other Americans truly concerned about the future of their children and has chosen not to support McCain, is a disillusioned Republican, or former Republican.

Do not assume that because someone protests Palin they are a Democrat or even that they are voting for Obama. I am an Independent (former Republican) who is considering voting for Barr.

Hey shellynn, a smear campaign and posting facts are two different things.

You need to remember that as Americans we are entitled to the presentation of FACTS devoid of bias. There is nothing biased about this post. This is a FACTUAL event that for whatever reason has not been covered by the mainstream media. If you read something that extolls only the finer points of a particular candidate without giving all the FACTS, you as an American have to remember that is actually bias.

If the media gives us nothing but bias for ANY candidate and labels it facts, it's up to us the AMERICAN PEOPLE to do our own research and share facts where we find them. God bless the Internet and God bless America.

Kool Aid.  her approval rating speaks for itself.  Aren't Biden/Obama and McCain in congress who's approval rating is lower that President Bush's.  Thats saying something.
