We love to take our homeschool lessons into the kitchen from time to time to take a break from the dining room table and all of that paper work. Today we will be making Blondies, a sweet carmel version of Brownies. When we measure ingredients, Caleb learns fractions; sometimes we even double a recipe so he gets to practice multiplying them. When we combine the ingredients, we hypothosize about the outcome of the recipe and I often ask him what he thinks would happen if we left one or another of the ingredients out of the "formula". That is exploring variables. When the goodies come out of the oven we talk about dividing them into portions and I let him cut them into squares. He LOVES to learn this way and then we can sit down together with our treats and a glass of milk and a good book to do some serious reading together. AHHH, the joys of home education!!!

Hope you all have a "delicious" day,

Char
