That isn't hard for me. I have insomnia, I had it since I was younger.I saw the doctor many times and was perscribed diffrent meds. each visit after testing one. None of them worked. None of the over-the-counter's worked, warm milk didn't work, hot bath or shower before bed didn't work, etc... tried just about everything. We don't have any sleep clinics here where I live , my aunt had one near her house in North Carolina, she had to do the study because she stops breathing in her sleep. She found out she has sleep apnea. I went to her house for vacation over the summer and asked her if they were still doing a sleep study, she took me there to go see, but they weren't doing that study anymore they were doing a study on something else they update studies all the time. My doctor doesn't understand what's going on w/ me. So I went for a second opinion and got pretty much the same results. So I easily can stay up 24 hrs. if I do get ANY sleep it's only for maybe 3 hrs. tops. But that isn't all the time. My grandmother was the same way. She couldn't sleep much.

hello lady,

I know exactly what you are going through. I have had some major problems with sleeping for most of my life but the past 9 months, it has gotten worse. Not only do I have problems getting to sleep but know I can't STAY asleep. I have been bugging my doctor and he made me do a sleep journal which showed me that I am only sleeping 1 to 1 1/2 hours at a time and waking up too much. No meds was working for me either and there is a family history of having problems with sleep - no Apena as far as I know though. The doctor put a little oxygen monitor on my finger when I slept one night and found out that I don't stop breathing but my intake does drop by 35 % when I am sleeping. This is a test you local doctor should be able to do...since most hospital has the little finger thing to check oxgen level for in patients! Demand that at the very least  they do that study. I could do mine at home because they have a portable one here, but you should be able to do one in hospital too. Having suffered 9 months and being cranky to my kids and now I am afraid to drive because of getting sleepy behind the wheel, sleep problems should be taken seriously. Keep fighting with the medical field. Good luck!
