A challenge to Obama haters.

I am a hope-filled Barak Obama supporter.  I have read both of his books and hung on his every word for over a year now.  I have followed the intense scrutiny he has undergone and even acknowledged and forgiven his mistakes.  Yes, his minister was a justifiably bitter elderly black man who doesn't always know when to censor his rage, but I appreciate Obama's willingness to accept that he does not know the depths of this man's racial wounds, and his insistence that we can all help these wounds heal if we all work for a better America.  I disagree with his vote against helping babies who survive partial birth abortions, but I whole-heartedly understand his paranoid belief that this bill could be the first step for Republicans to overturn Roe v. Wade.  I also trust his willingness to learn from his mistakes and not repeat them. 

Lately, I have been browsing some on-line discussions about this heated debate and I am frustrated at the level of ignorance in which people are basing this crucial decision.  For example, one woman posted a video of Obama mistakenly stating that he has been to "57" states rather than 47, and insisted both that she believes he in fact does not know how many states we have, and that this was why she knew she was making the right decision in voting for McCain.  After telling her how foolish this was, she went on to say that Obama is a fraud and a proven liar and that I should learn more about him.  If she was so sure of this, how is it that she could not come up with something even remotely relevant to prove this, other than this silly video, I wondered?

It is an insult to my intelligence to suggest that despite the intense scrutiny that these candidates have faced for some time now, there is some obvious character flaw that I am missing in Obama.  What is this "proven record" of lies a fraudulence? 

So in the interest of being open minded and tolerant, I challenge these Obama haters.  I want to know whatever it is you think I am ignorant to.  But I beg you, no petty bullshit.  I  don't want to hear about "57" states, an uncle he "claimed" to have, he is a Muslim, he is a terrorist, and definitely no LIPSTICK ON A PIG.  Even FOX news is over this nonsense.  Let's keep this intellectual.  Whatever it is, it has to matter more than the the war in Iraq, tax cuts for the corporate rich, the economy, and the overall betterment of the worldwide reputation of our country (the rest of the world would prefer Obama too, feel free to fact check this).

I promise to consider everything you present, but I warn you, I will be fact checking every claim and posting all results.  Here are some rules:

1.        If I can't find the story anywhere, or only from one single source, I will assume you, or some other deceitful source made it up.  Let's face it, if it was credible it would be all over and easy to find.

2.       Nothing about abortion.  If this is a fundamental difference between him and you, I respect your opinion.  I happen to believe in a woman's right to choose what to do with her own body.

3.       I will use, as one of my sources, Obama's fight the smear site, as I am certain we all respect his right to defend himself and present his side of the story. 

I am tired of being told that despite my genuine interest and commitment to this election, I am being duped by my own candidate.  Especially when the other guy is trying to dupe the ignorant people of this country into support him simply because he chose a hillbilly woman as his running  mate, despite her obvious lack of intelligence and commonsense.  So please, bring it on.  I look forward to my possible schooling, and hope that we can all keep an open mind in this process.

It's called having an open mind and learning about your presidential candidates.  It's part of the process and I beg you to engage yourself in it.  Anyway, waiting for a more substantial response from you as you are one of the biggest "haters" I have seen yet heard nothing significant from.

Isnt it just funny how politics make people go crazy? I dont like Obama's or McCain's views. Yes we need change, but I dont know if they could actually bring the change that is needed. So for now I will sit back and watch the heated debates.

I don't think that's a fair rule here:

The declaration of independence, a founding document of our nation, says: "...with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. — That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, — That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it,"

I know there are debates about whether a fetus is considered really alive or not, but even the most liberal will say that a baby alive outside of the mother's womb is most definetly alive. How can he be more worried about kind of edging off "row vs wade" than blatantly going against our most basic rights and freedoms outlined in the declaration of independence?

My problem with Obama is that I just don't agree with his plan.  Plain and simple, his ideals are opposite of mine.  He does not support my interests, and that's fine!  He is a great speaker, he's done well with his life, and he does appeal to a good portion of people.  But he's not instep with me.

I wouldn't call my self a "hater" but I dislike his policies and positions.  So I would imagine you are targeting those that are clinging to the rumors and not actual policy disputes, but I thought I'd chime in with my two cents.  I'd love to see more discussion on actual issues and not the rampant rumor mill, but such is the way of politics right?

Oh I'm educated azcnmairemom, it's just that when you cast your pearls before swine they get trampled on. The Bible didn't instruct us not to do that because we were wrong or would be proven wrong, it's because people don't care about, or want to know the truth. They wouldn't recognize it if it bit them in the butt. People who have closed minds refuse to see when inconsistencies and lies are pointed out about their candidate. Then they have the audacity to accuse the other side of being "sheep"  Y'all go ahead and vote for BO, God forbid if he wins...you get what you asked for and obviously deserve. I'll be sitting back gladly saying "I told ya so!"

Like the OP said, you are one of the biggest haters on here and all you do is talk smack without facts to back up your outrageous claims. Here you come again, spouting stuff about God and the Bible but not saying anything substantial!
