So my 5 year old daughter has to be the worst eater I've ever seen in my 28 years. She will eat any kind of cake, cookie, candy, chicken nugget, hot dog ever created, but let me pile her a (child-sized) plate with some rice, beans and salad or some chicken and mashed potatoes and broccoli. She'll eat maybe a handful of bites and say she's full. She'll eat bowl after bowl of cereal and I don't mean the healthy kind, but the full of sugar kind. She'll eat a peanut butter and jelly sandwich before I can get her to eat a turkey and tomato sandwich. Ugh. She's so skinny. I can see her rib cage. Meanwhile my son is overweight, but he's the one that eats the "REAL" food. Now don't get me wrong, I can get Olivia to eat some veggies here and there and some salad withOUT tomatoes. She'll eat carrot sticks, but she has to be in mood for stuff like that, but offer her ice cream and she'll jump on that bowl. She's just so picky that sometimes I worry she's not getting enough nutrients. crying

What I would do is stop bringing the bad stuff in the house. Stop buying ice cream and cookies and cakes and candy.  If they aren't there, she can't eat them.  Buy all-fruit jellies and jams for her PB&J.  Buy lots of fruits and veggies. Also, try to include her in the cooking process: let her find recipes, plan menus, and prepare dishes.  I can pm you the namees of some good cookbooks if you want.

My 5 year old girl Abby has to "want it" too.  It's like a power struggle...
