"He tends his flock like a shepard.  He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; He gently leads those that have young."

Do you suppose that the reason God leads momma's of young ones gently is because He knows we need all the grace and mercy we can get?  I cannot count the number of times that I forget to rely on God's grace when parenting.  When I try to do it on my own I get frustrated, overwhelmed and I want to quit.

Maybe God leads us gently so that we will know how to lead our children.  When I am harsh with my babies and unmerciful, I damage my children's heart and spirit.  Maybe God is gentle with me because he expects me to turn it around towards the kiddos.  And if that is the case then that makes me think about the parable of the unjust servant.  He had huge amounts of debt and the King forgave him, but the servant turned around and refused to forgive a small debt by one of his servants.  When the King found out, he threw the forgiven servant in prision and treated him as if he had millions in debt.    So how does God feel about me when I , who has been dealt with mercifully by the Lord,  turn and deal harshly with my children?

Lord, I need your mercy again.  Teach me how to love my children the way you love me-never giving up on me and always giving me a safe place to run.
