As October approaches, we are reminded of the fight against breast cancer. October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and I wanted to get a jump start on the subject.

Most all women have been touched by this disease in one way or another. Whether it be a family member, a friend or a co-worker, everyone knows someone effected by it.

My mother's best friend, a woman who was in my life as a child, died in 2003 from breast cancer and the complications from it. She was only 54 years old. She had two sons and four grandchildren at the time. I hated to see her suffer with it. It eventually spread throughout the rest of her body and ultimately took her life.

I hope that everyone reading this takes some time in the coming weeks to help out with spreading awareness for breast cancer. I have been asked, by Cafemom to start a group to collect Yoplait pink lids for their Save Lids to Save Lives program. Yoplait will donate 10 cents, for every lid collected and sent in by December 31, 2008, to the Susan G. Komen foundation. Please, start saving your lids!
