I found this poll on describing black people so I thought I would take the same poll on here and see how many people on cafemom view blacks as each of these adjectives. And no need for drama because this is not what this is for.I just want to see how others view me being a black woman. And please be honest.
Comments:
I don't view black people as anything, if that makes any sense....I view everyone I meeet on a person by person basis. I wouldn't know how to answer that poll because it's stereotyping a huge group of people either in a good way or a bad way....although I have to say the Republican answers DON'T surprise me!
Well, I don't view you as a black woman. I view you as a woman. As a mother. As someone who has the same issues and problems as I do as a white woman. I think that the more and more that we separate ourselves into categories, the harder it is for some people to give up the old prejudice and be accepting of other races that may not be their own. Let's all stand up for people in general and fight for people's issues.
INTERESTING.
Hopefully people view me as an individual, though I know that for some people that is hard if not impossible. Some people just tend to view all people of a certain race, religion or etc. as the same. How unfortunate, but true.
this all stems from stereotyping... I bet all the people in that poll dont even know 1 blk person! they get this from TV, radio and unfortunately the few blk people they have come in contact with have probably playedright into these stereotypes.....hopefully with Barak as president, these people will open their minds and hearts and see we are no different. And us as minoritieswill have more pride in ourselves and stop settling for less than the best just b/c we are minorities.
We are all family in the eyes of God! My "cousin" is black and I do not view her any differently than my white cousins. I try not to judge people based on color, or their beliefs. I try to treat all peoples how I would want to be treated. This world is full of ignorant people, if their eyes were opened to the truth, there would not be so much hate and prejudice! You are my Sister and that is how I will view you!
Never judge a soul by its exterior shell, but look through the windows and see the beauty inside!
