Lately we have had some funny cooking moments with the kids, here are a few...
Since Grace's birthday is coming up on Sunday it was time to take out all of my baking supplies to make Grace's cake. Usually I like to try and bake a little more frequently then just at the kids birthdays, but we have had a lot of changes in our schedules the last year so I don't get to do it as much as I would have liked it. Cale really enjoys baking with me so he asked if he could help. I told him that I would love to have a helper. I did have to warn him though, this cake was being made out of a box... his cake was made from scratch, but this time I had to cheat and use the box mix.
Cale got a funny look on his face and said "Mommy, was my cake really made from scraps?". Evidentally he thought I was saying that I used scraps of paper to get his cake made.
A few weeks ago I was making dinner. Like her brother, Grace also likes to try and help cook whenever she can. She saw I was getting a pan out and ran into the kitchen and said "Mommy I am going to help you cook dinner!". I told that was fine and to come on over and help. She then decided to kneel down on one knee and said "Mommy I am cooking like a cowboy!". It took me a while to even understand what she meant, but eventually I remembered we had gone to a museum the week before where one of the displays was two cowboys cooking over a campfire kneeling just like she was doing.
