A friend of mine put in her thought bubble today that she donated 8 inches of her hair to Locks of Love.  I heard from another friend of mine a few months ago that LoL is a scam. I Googled Locks of Love scam and came up with the following sites:

BadHairDay: Locks of Love is a Scam
Very Big Blog - Locks of Love

There is still hope.  There is Wigs for Kids.  The process and the photos are the same as they are from the Locks of Love site.  I've seen too many negative things about Locks of Love to ever donate my hair to them.  When it gets about six inches longer, I may cut it to my shoulder blades and donate it.

Here's how long my hair is now:

It's a bad shot of me but this was from August 14, 2008.  When it's not in the ponytail, it's just past my waist.

This was summer 2007; still long.

When my hair reaches the bottom of my bottom, I'm cutting it to this length and donating the rest to Wigs for Kids:

i dont know if i would say  it was a SCAm If you look on thier wed site they  say that  they sell thier wigs to those who   have cancer  or who ever needs them as a affordable price and  what isnt long enough to   what ever is sold.  I want to say that its sold to pay for hte  cost of making them Locks of Love helps disadvantaged children suffering from medical hair loss.  Because  they dont hide this info  i think removes them from the scam   category.  But it is info yu have to  look for .

There are many other orginzations that  dont sell thier  Wigs for Kids hair restoration for children. And many more . You just have to do the research .

My friend's daughter cut her very long hair into a cute bob last year, and donated the hair to LOL.  I hope it went to someone who really needed it.

Meissilly - You obviously didn't read my entire post.  I actually mentioned Wigs for Kids and said that I was going to donate my hair to them when I get it cut.

I have donated a total of 36 inches of hair to LoL and each time have received a thank you card. Before I read your post, I had already decided to let me hair grow out again and not cut it for a very long time, if ever. Granted, giving my hair to a child who needs a wig is wonderful. But, being selfish, I miss doing things with my hair. There is just so much you can do with long hair compared to short hair.

I gotta ask..........

Why on EARTH would they wanna scam people out of their hair?  I'm pissed because I've donated to them three times now and convinced all my friends and family to donate to them too.  Me and my bridesmaids all did it right after my wedding- in honor of my mother who died with cancer.

FROM NOW ON, I'll use Wigs for Kids!  Thanks for the inside information ; )
