Anything can be achieved.

An award for doing something great. Today was an achieveable day. My 5 year old graduated from pre-k. She is now a kindergartner.

We are all very proud. If you knew her you would be too.

My 6 year old achieved greatness. She learned her address and the months of the year. We've been working hard on those-especially the address, ours is kinda hard. She is also going to be a 1st grader next year.

We are also proud of her.

My 21 month old daughter, she achieves greatness everyday. She achieves greatness everyday because she has Down Syndrome.

Hmmmm imagine that and she achieves greatness....

Yes I said it she achieves it everyday. Why, because everything she does takes her a little bit longer then it does the amazing 6 year old and 5 year old sister, even the 9 month old little sister.

She is 21 months old. She learned how to crawl about 2 weeks ago. She achieved it all on her own, with a little award system of mini marshmellows, but they don't count. She did it. Now she is unstoppable.

Crawling up and down the hallway, almost like she is racing her little sister. Does she win, no, not really. Does it matter? No it doesn't. And you know why? Because, as my brillant 5 year old stated to her older sister, "some people just go a little bit slower and thats ok.

Sometimes people just need to go slower." Hmmmmm, imagine that a 5 year old gets what the rest of the world doesn't get.

My 21 month old makes me achieve greatness. Because of her, I want the world to know of her greatness. That she is like you and me. She may not say I want to play ball, but she can mooo at her toy cow. She can't say her sisters names, but she can smile and wave bye bye to them when they go to school, or give a simple kiss to let them know she loves them

The little achievements in life are what make us great.

Down syndrome is great. It makes us stop and smell the flowers, watch the bunnies play in the yard, enjoy the smallest accomplishments of the day.

It makes us all achieve greatness-well in my house it does.

Because in my house you can be who ever you want to be,

                                you will achieve your greatness

I want to say "Thank You" to two special mom's for making this post, stephb04 for sharing your essay with us and JPORTER2208  for the wonderul job on the pictures

God Bless you,

Gloria
