It is time to put myself in check, running is for fun.  I have a goal of running an ultra and that is the goal, why I am off with some side goal of running some crazy pace in a 1/2 marathon is beyond me.  What happened to my goal?  I think I let my husbands idea of if you are running a race you should be running to win really sink in and I forgot to just run for fun.  Ok this is it, I am regrouping, resetting the mind and back on track mentally for the ultra, everything else is gravy.  No more bumming about races in between.  The ultra is the goal, the ultra is the goal, the ultra is the goal.....

girl i have the SAME PROBLEM sometimes! i found myself skipping a few 5k's this past year (right before i was pregnant) because i had placed top 3 overall in the past at that race and knew i wouldn't be able to that year.  I forgot what it's really's about RUNNING not about winning.  I loved the quote of the day today...this one for sure needs to be on my wall...

Ithink some times it hard to strike a balance. My husband said the same thing about me running the Bix again. He was joking of course but it did sort of bum me out. I realized though his comment has more to do with the fact that he feels he must win before he even attempts something.
