I have a genetic disorder called thyroid hormone resistance so they have to do an amnio to see if the baby has it...if the baby has it, i wont need any meds since my high thyroid levels will be okay for the baby but if the baby doesn't have it then i will have to take meds to level out the thyroid levels so it will be acceptable for me and the baby. I am so scared :(...This is my first child and i'm afraid of the risk of misscarriage because of it.

I had tog et an amnio with my first child also.  there is a risk of miscarraige, but it is much less than it used to be.  Think happy thoughts, not negative.  You and baby will be just fine...<<<<hug>>>>

Uggg. Amnio's suck. I had one with my first daughter but it was at like 25 weeks. And then again at 28w3d. Is an amnio the only way they can find out? Giving you the drugs without knowing....could it harm your unborn child? It will be ok though, either way!
