Kids should be able to go to school and a get an education. It surprises me how many kids are in violent situations at school, but never says anything about it.

My baby is about to turn 13, and yes he is still my baby. As  a mother I have this need to protect him and make sure he is always safe. Just recently, a kid was pushing him at school, which led to the kid spraying deodorant in my sons eyes. The kid punched my son on the back of his head and left a big bump. Then the kid picked up a 2 x 4 with nails on it and struck my son in the shoulder. Following all of this, the kid punched my son in the face jumped on his back and was kneeing him in the back. My son would not fight him back.

Do you know my son didn't say a word because he thought it would just go away...The kid continued to hurt and harrass my son. Finally, another parent saw what was happening and called the school and the police. When I spoke to my son about it, he started to cry as he told me he was scared of this kid.

My journal posting today is designed to encourage all mothers to talk to their kids about violence. Let them know when a person has crossed the line to make sure they tell someone. A kid should be able to go to school and not be scared while getting an education. If this journal posting helps one mother talk to their kid about this...then I feel I've done my job!

Thanks for reading,

Chanel

My son is doing well now that he knows he has support. He really wants to make a stance so that stuff like this doesn't happen to other kids!
