Iain has been waving "hi" and "goodbye" for a few days now...and I finally got it on video yesterday...this is him waving "goodbye" to mama..
He also did the cutest thing! He was playing with his new laptop and then stopped for a few...and it said..."shutting down now...goodbye" and he turned and waved at it. Another one of those...I wish I had my camera times!! It was soooooooooooooooooooooooo cute!!!
Last night he started to say "mama"...he's said it a few times in the past but just when he's screaming and...it just happened to be the sound that came out of his mouth. Now...he actually calls me "mama". I think I can say that's a first word...or something. I mean...he says "dada" but he doesn't call Jim "dada"...I don't know. First words are about as ambiguous as first steps...I think. But...it's definitely the first word he puts together with something...for better or worse. Now...he says it NON-STOP. Whenever I leave the room...he calls...."mama mama mama" in a whiney voice...and when I come back he holds up his hands to be picked up...saying "mama"...I think he's learned I can't resist! Haha. It's adorable but...sometimes...for instance...when I'm getting lunch ready and he wants it NOW...and he starts calling "mama mama" in his oh so whiney voice...I decide...I'm not so sure I want him to know how to say it anymore...haha. Just kidding. It's awesomely adorable...like pretty much everything else he does :-)
Note: I just found this out today... Did you know that babies don't usually put the word "goodbye" together with waving goodbye? I thought that was "normal"...sure...I thought it was utterly adorable...but...I thought it was normal...which is why I wrote it so matter-of-factly. I didn't realize that babies just copied the hand signal when their parents or whatever did it while saying "goodbye" like..."goodbye" just happens to be there, too. That it had little to do with the word itself. Makes the fact that Iain waves "goodbye" to his toy that says "goodbye"...AND the fact that all we have to say to Iain now...is "goodbye" and he waves...even more awesome! That's what he's doing in the video...just waving to the word. No hand signals necessary...he knows what to do...haha :-) I mean...I knew he put the word together with the action BUT...I thought that was "normal". Pretty cool!
