It has been almost a year since watching Earthlings, and it was  the most effective movie for changing my heart and gut.  It was almost like doing something cold turkey!  (sorry) Almost!

Dairy items disappeared from my refrigerator, new experiments took place in my kitchen.  For the first time, I have been able to stay focused on my choices.  I declared them to friends and family, and we are all enjoying the process of learning new ways to put together, prepare and create natural foods, unwrapped foods, and foods without labels. Since early spring I have been striving for 75 to 90 % raw food lifestyle. I enjoy mixtures and combinations that I never imagined before. Reading the recipes by raw vegans, or fruitarians was eye opening. I have learned to never be suspect of a combination, until I try it.  Further, I have been setting a goal to have no less than 5, but more often, 9 servings of fruits and vegetables and fiber foods per day.

I have health issues that must balance with my choices, I don't have a real label for my life choice. Probably a fruit/vegetarian, ovo-vegan or semi-raw-foodist.  Now to come up with a name that combines that!  If this gets you thinking, give me some feedback.apple

So, how do you feel? Is it paying off? I can just now after 4 years eat leafy greens again because I went off blood thinners! The first couple of times was not nice to my bowels! I say if you feel better, and it shows, stick with the program!!

I haven't been around much, I've gotten hooked on facebook. And I had to answer this question.

I have been feeling great.  Just recently though I have developed a lot of lower back and leg pain. Especially my left leg. Rough technician during ultra sound....But I maintained my weight and lost a little all through this last winter. The last few weeks I have been making green smoothies, enough to have a glass about three times a day.

I love them, it doesn't hurt my stomach after I have them, some days I add flax and dry whole oats, maybe protein powder.  But mostly in the green drinks I have 1 banana, 1/2 or 1 apple, or orange, a couple of kale leaves, cucumber, celery, cilantro, romaine, parsley, broccoli, baby greens, carrots, even sometimes 1/2 a raw potato.  Not everything at once, but in combination. Sometimes I put in an avocado instead of a banana. Use a pear instead of apple. Spinach instead of romaine, or baby greens.

What's so good is that having done about four weeks straight of a one glass serving before each meal, my joint swelling is down, my bowels are correcting themselves, after many years, etc. I've had a lot lower blood glucose readings, and started with a new doctor that questions everything, and wants to be on top of things with me, instead of one that was keeping me on a 3 month schedule for their own gain. If one has a juicer, it is recommended that 1/3 of the raw diet should consist of fresh juices, because they're nutrient rich. Fiber is good, but it makes for less vitamins and minerals in each serving. They say that's the best way to energize.

The first few weeks I had a little problem with consistant bowels, however I was put on metformin a while back, and told I would have more diarrhea. That being said I started to come up with the flax seeds etc.  I can soak nuts for a couple of hours, and add them to smoothies for more balance.

I have been on line studying this every day, and finding more support that way. Even my friends and family are supportive more now.

I hope you are doing well, and will check back sooner.love you sign
