SAHMs

I was reading through the comments on a poll that was asked by a member of CM . As usual, some of the comments really disturbed me. But a couple really hit hard, one said that CM is just a place for SAHMs with nothing better to do. Another said that the post about SAHMs really hit the nail on the head.......I was upset about it. I do anything BUT sit around all day long...do you think I'm overreacting?!

I'm sorry, but as a SAHM, I have many many many better things to do!! Such as 5 little boys that I chase around constantly all day, not to mention that while doing that I have a home to clean, toys to fix, fights to ref, hugs to give, kisses to get, a lawn to mow, a garden to weed and harvest, beans to can, pumpkin to freeze, meals to make, desserts to bake. Diapers to change, naps to give, garbage to take out, meals to be delivered to the hubby in the field, grocery lists to make, bills to pay, registers to balance, paperwork to file, fences to fix, and cows to keep track of. Yes, I MAJORLY took offense to the comment. As I'm sure many other SAHM's that read it did, too. Just because you don't have the luxury of staying at home with your kids like we get/have to, doesn't mean you have to down-play the importance of it all. I envy Sarah Palin for being able to be a mom of 5 (one with a special need), run a state, and now, assist in running a country. Go for it Sarah (even though I'm not a McCain/Palin fan, I'm still rooting for someone that can do what she's doing), hopefully you have better luck without b***es bringing you down just because you are a mom. Women CAN do everything! God made us that way - we're super heroes in our own way, each & every one of us!!! (**the original poll was a survey on Sarah Palin, hence the Palin reference here**)

  wow, mama of5, i thought i was busy!  you are a supermama and i love you supportive, intelligent perspective on sahm and working moms both. women should always help each other, not try to outdo or tear each other down, that only makes thing worse!  thanks for your nice thoughts, Lisa

I know where you are coming from.  I WOH part-time but with my husband gone during the week, I have to take care of the cattle & everything else.

Oh & this last "little" snow storm (okay, blizzard) was enough to send me over the edge!  I don't want to see what this weekend is bringing.

I was searching for states and I saw this Journal. I am a SAHM of 6, 3 boys and 3 girls. People that post comments like we sit on our butts all day are literally stupid. How can we sit on our butts all day? Who is gonna change the diaper or make lunch or do the dishes or vacuum the living room or bath the kids ...etc. I always say I NEVER get the chance to rest, but thats ok. I find my time to get on CafeMom, they are right, but it is in times that my children are doing something that don't require my attention 100%, but if I do get on it isnt for long, here and there is all. And I find this site to be wonderful, a place we can vent, ask questions to other mommies and even ask advice about medical needs. So to whoever says stuff like that, they have no clue what a SAHM has to go through....
