How 2 have a successful group!

I have been on this site since it first opened..so for 2 years now I believe. I started my group by thinking of something that I know alot of ppl have in common. Also I had a bunch of stress in my life and needed to get it out. When I started the group there were not as many opptions as there is now! To start a group click on the group tab and on the right hand side close to the bottom it will say "Create a group". Just go from there.
I did ALOT of promoting...I mean ALOT. There was no signatures back then all I did was promoted in people's chatter..promoted in groups (which now most do not allow) The big hit came from writing fake journals. I would make a crazy heading like "OMG she cut off her finger. Then I would apologize and say I just wanted to promote my group. Now some got mad and some did not, that was a chance to take.
Now if you go to the journal page you can see the first few lines of a journal SO if you make it ADULTS only..you know with the little triangle showing the sentences do not show up. Also make your group to where the only ppl that can read and respond to the post is group members only. This makes it so they have to click JOIN before entering and reading whats in the group. Most ppl who join do not leave.
Sooner or later it just because word of mouth from others so really they do the promoting for me. Also when you first start the group you need to keep it active. This way it can get on the most active list. Even if ppl do not respond to you reply and reply. Post and Post! When people search post the group name will appear with the post..when they click on the post they have to join the group to read it, see what im saying!!!

PS. ALOT of times if people have to apply to the group they will go to the next one...

FYI: Sporadically ask the group how they feel everything is going. Ask then if they think there should be any changes within the group. Be sure to listen to your members and answer any problems or concern they might have. In my group we have a PROBLEMS/CONCERNS thread for anyone to ask something. They also know they can come to us with any concerns they have. When you ask the group how they feel then it makes them feel good about being in the group.
PROMOTING GROUP: People like to promote their gorup in your group whenever possible. When they do this the board will get cluttered with all these promotions. We have a PROMOTE YOUR GROUP HERE post just for people to be able to promote their group without having the board get cluttered. Be sure to be specific letting them know to only promote it in the thread. This way if one gets deleted they will understand.
The Cafemom Games: This is another good way to promote your group. Do you play these laundry, state, trick or treat games on cafemom? If so make sure you have a chatter wrote out to copy and paste it into ever page you visti. You are already there so mind as well leave a chatter, right?
Hell I play that damn laundry game a lot lol If I left a chatter on everyones page and they all joined my group would grow by 200 every time I played lmao

DO NOT FORGET: Also when your group starts to get more member sand become active get you a few administrators. Now as a group owner you need to want whats best for your group. Alot of ppl might get Admin who are their friends or they might be a admin. in their group. What I personally did was kept and eye on my group and picked someone who I seen was very active within the group. Not only posting post but also replying to many post as well. I started off with about 5 admin. Some were friends and some not. I let go all of the besides 1. I just recently added another admin!! It was tough letting a friend go and some ppl even got mad BUT if they are not active within the group or helps with anything what would be the point in them being an ADMIN?
Just keep that in mind...
