As the temperature lowers, my excitement for "new" clothes rises. No, I don't mean "fall shopping", although I do love to indulge in buying a cute, new sweater for the season.
What I actually love to wear in the cool weather, are all of my "holiday" shirts. One of the few things that I actually do "collect" are holiday-themed shirts. I have about 14 (give or take) Halloween-themed shirts, and probably closer to 20 Christmas-themed shirts. I try to add at least one to both collections every year.
Once October hits, I only wear Halloween shirts until the holiday is over. The same with my Christmas shirts--the day after Thanksgiving is when I start wearing my Christmas shirts.
The only exception is the period between November 1st and Thanksgiving Day. I have zero Thanksgiving shirts. My problem is that it is nearly impossible to find Thanksgiving-related clothing. I'm thinking about printing out my own iron-ons for shirts for myself. In fact, one year I was certain that I was going to do just that, but then never really got around to it. I downloaded pictures and came up with all sorts of ideas. I may just make that a project this year... :) Something cute might be to get fabric paint and have my kids make these on my shirt:
Oh how cute would that be? A bigger one next to a littler one. That's it, I'm doing it! I'll be going out to get fabric paint first thing on payday. :) (btw, the feathers are made of hand prints and the feet are made of traced feet... I actually made placemats for my parents of my son's hands and feet a couple of years ago with this same design on construction paper.)
Another idea that I had was just to have a white T-Shirt that says in bold black letters:
TRIPTOPHAN
Seriously, how many people ever make it through the holiday without hearing that word at least once? I doubt many of us. And someone always has to "explain" it. As if the entire world doesn't already know what it means. So for me, it would be sarcastic; like, don't bother trying to tell me what it means, I already know. Obviously, because it's on my shirt.
And just some other funny images, too. Like:

or maybe even this one (although I'm not sure my son would see the humor in it >:)

SO, to recap, my holiday shirts are my favorite clothes to wear when October hits... and I'm obviously a little bit twisted. (Okay, maybe more than a little bit.)
