Paranoia and Prejudice

I have a prejudice.  It's very strong and I doubt that any amount of education will ever cure it.

I hate spiders.

There.  I admit it.  I don't like the way they move.  They look scary.  They bite.  Worst of all, I know that whichever direction you are from one, they can still see you.  And if you have enough radiation, they can grow really large and terrorize your town.  (I saw that in a movie once)

It's really sad to admit this, especially as a mom of 6 boys.  Snakes are cool.  Crickets, worms, grasshoppers....... they are alright.  But spiders....eewwwww!  

It's not rational to fear something that is (usually) so small.  I know spiders eat mosquitoes and other annoying bugs.  Traditional folklore says it's bad luck to kill them.  I won't call the Orkin man because I don't want a load of chemicals dumped in my home......but on the other hand, a grenade launcher might just do the trick!  (nice fantasy, huh?)

I do not care.

Spiders invade my house because they like to scare me.  The fact that my house is old and full of great hiding places means nothing to them.  They enjoy the fact that I am paranoid...... this has to be true, or else why would they hang out in my one bathroom??????

Here's how it goes;

Spider:  If I stay in here, right between the tub and the toilet, she can't come in here to go potty!  Ah ha ha ha ha!!!!  (evil spider laugh)

Julie:  When in the hell is Lou coming home????   I have to go pee!

Spider:  Ha!  I have her right where I want her!  (cue evil spider laughter......)

Seriously!

I also hate the fact that my boyfriend can nonchanlantly scoop them up and chuck them outside.  It's perverse and it ticks me off, because I'm not brave enough to do it myself.  Not on a bet.  The best I can muster is to chase them around with the vacuum cleaner  (if they are small).

So there's my true confession for today.  Please don't hate me.

dearheart.  your fear is not irrational.  where you live, there a spiders that WILL kill you!

Ok.. I hear ya... but what about roaches?... uuuggghhh.. I really really dispise them.... thank God and all the cleaning we dont have any in our home (we do have one or two spiders here and there) but I have this... fear of roaches.. since I was a little girl.. I mean... really scared!!  I see one on tv and I can feel it crawling all over me.. eeeewwwwwww!!!..

So there, you are not the only one with a "fear" of something that is really more afraid of you then you of it... :)

I also have an irrational fear of spiders.  And clowns.  And monkeys.  I have goosebumps just thinking about it...

ok, so we had a ten foot spider in our garage.......................just now............how funny. Tell Lou ours was the size of my foot!!!!
