My daughters and I are donating our hair to Locks of Love and also raising money for cancer research. My pony tail is 16 inches, and the girls have braids right now, so I couldn't measure it accurately, but they are definitely over the 10 inch minimum.

All the girls in our house have long hair, and when my 7 year old said she wanted to chop off her hair, an idea formed in my mind. We homeschool our children and I think it would make an excellent Social Studies assignment for our 10 year old.

So she is doing the research, planning and press releases.

I want her fund raiser to be a success, and any suggestions you may have would be very appreciated.

We are opening an account when she goes in for ballet this Thursday at our local credit union to take the donations, and they are waiving the fees usually associated with opening an account.

I am willing to actually shave my head if that would increase the total donations, and my girls SAY they are, but I would be very hessitant due to both my ex and his. Any thoughts?

Please DO NOT donate to Locks of Love. They charge for the wigs on a sliding scale and have been involved in some scandals.

Wigs For Kids is a non profit organization run by volunteers. They DO NOT charge anything for hair pieces. Please check them out before you do anything. My daughter is in the process of growing her hair as well and we will be sending it to Wigs for Kids!

My DD Claudia has donated twice and my DD Laura has once. It was their idea. I think this is a great thing for everyone to get involved in.
