Okay so I had to take Destiny to the E.R. again last night. This makes
3 er trips and 8 total hospitalizations since she came home July 04th.
They released us after two hours as well as a chest xray and a
respiratory panel. They also had us go to the pediatrician this
morning. At first our doc was looking over the paper for the resp.
panel and of the seven viruses on it, six had the word negative right
next to them. He really started worrying when he couldn't find the
word negative next to RSV.
He wanted to call the hospital right away and have them tell him the
result on it and the phone wouldn't dial out because it was long
distance (we went to the children's hospital an hour away). He got all
upset at the person in charge of the phone bill when they said they
don't have long distance in the rooms in order to prevent his
patients' families making a big bill. Anyway he started demanding to
have them bring him a phone with Primary Children's on the line NOW.
They kept saying, but and he got pretty upset with them. He also told
them to change the phone bill to allow long distance; that it was
simply unacceptable to not be able to reach our regions best pediatric
hospital and that he wouldn't care about a family making a long
distance call to make that happen. lol. He finally found the word
negative though - it was just in a weird spot.
So now Dest has been diagnosed with a respiratory virus and we have to
wait it out and watch her really closely at night. If she gets the
retractions as bad as last night or if any new symptoms come up or get
worse, she has to be seen immediately. We've also been told that where
he normally wasn't worried about single apnea episodes, if she goes
apnic at all while this is going on we need to call 911 and go to PCMC
immediately. I was so glad to see him take initiative and be firm
about yes you were right to take her to the er. lol.
Anyway we also have humidifiers going and we're hoping to get it to
the point where she won't have to go back with this. Pray for us PLEASE!
