I just found out today that Sean will be having surgery on November 6, 2008. I am worried. My heart sank when the urologist said that he would have to have it. He has hypospadius (the urinary opening is too small) and a partially undescended testicle. He will also be cicrumcised at that time. The foreskin will be used to help repair the testicle issue. It is any outpatient surgery, but I am still worried. My little guy will only be 16 and a half months and he is still so small. He now weighs 19 pounds 7 ounces and is 28 and a half inches long. That's pretty good considering he entered the world at 3 pounds and one ounce. Please keep him in your prayers. He is a strong boy, but I am a weak mom. Thanks!

Hang in there. I would love to tell you not to worry..but, as Mothers we will. My dd had surgery just days before her first birthday. She was diagnosed with a half duplicated system and a uterocele. Which is basically like a pocket of urine within the bladder...it never leaves. So it leds to really bad infections. She went in for out patient surgery to have it removed. So I know you will worry. I just kept focusing that this is what had to be done to give her a better life. I also found comfort in the hospital we had it done at...it was a children's hospital. I wish you and your little one all the best!!! Just keep thinking of the outcome and how it will improve his health/everyday living.
Thanks ladies. It is great to hear (see) encouraging words right now. I'll let you know how he is doing after his surgery.
I'm sorry that your son will need surgery. A close friend has a son with hypospadia, but luckily it is minor enough that he won't need surgery. My friend's brother had a very severe case and needed several surgeries. He is now a healthy adult. If you have not joined one yet, there are a few hypospadia support groups here on Cafemom. I hope all goes well with your son. He sounds like a strong little guy.
