To My Fellow American Citizens,

I have a lot of question that I would like to be answered. For me these questions are neither Right Wing or Left Wing, they are neither Liberal or Conservative, they are rather a question of American ethics.

Is saying that you are an Arab make you a horrible person?

Are Arabs somehow untrustworthy?

If your heritage is Arabic does that mean that some how you'll never be Patriotic?

and If you are from Arabic Heritage mean that you should be scared to say so?

Yes my Questions might seem unimportant. But to me they aren't, to me they hold great importance. I thought I lived in a Country that was respectful of ALL walks of life, but I guess I was wrong. With the current Election, I knew that there would be a undertone of racism, and that Arab Americans would need to have a lower voice in it all. I knew that because of 9/11 Arab Americans were having to take the wrath of hate. I know that Arabs in general are under the cloud of being labeled as Terrorists, and to be honest most Arabs have just kinda licked up. We are taking the heat, taking the unnecessary wrath, the dirty looks, the judgments.

But why should we? I was born here, in the USA, and actually born in Arizona, where John McCain is senator. I pay my taxes! I have never been to the Middle East! I went to school here!  I don't do illegal activity! My Son was born in the USA! I am the example of the Women next door, I just happen to have a Arabic Heritage and Believe in Islam. My family and I are in no way different then most American Families. and Yet with all of that I have become scared! I have become sad! I have become hurt!

Yesterday when that ignorant Woman said that she could not trust Barack Obama because he is as "Arab", I got chills down my spin! Is "Arab" now code for Jerk-off? Scary Man? Untrustworthy? Horrible Leader? What did she mean by saying that? But what got me even more worried is John McCain's response, and the Media's response!

John McCain responded to the ignorant idiot, that  "No he isn't Arab, he is a decent man, he is a Family man, a good person". Is he serious? So what does that make my husband? Crap? is a Arab man not capable of being a Family man? I am serious! John McCain, Sarah Palin and the media have not yet said 'So what if he was a Arab American".... Maybe I am being overly sensitive, but in my eyes I am not. These candidates and the Media have a obligation to us citizens and part of the obligation is to erase hatred and misunderstandings.

I am not a scary person, my son is not a scary person, my husband is not a scary person, and my Father is not a scary person! If we are anything we are proud, caring, loving, intelligent, humbled, grateful, and understanding! Tell me, explain to me why I should trust McCain to diffuse the hatred towards Arab Americans? Why should I trust McCain diffuse racism all around? He can't diffuse his own ignorant supporters! For those who say that John McCain has regained their appreciation because he called Obama "descent" explain to me why I should?!

Well, Obama's heritage is from Kenya, making him African so I think he was correcting her on that. & then I think his response was preempting what the woman was implying, you know that Arab = Muslim = Terrorist. It's an ignorant belief, one that was perpetuated by McCain's campaign-- & It certainly, like you & so many others are proof of, is not true in the least. I certainly understand how his comments were offensive, but I can also understand that he was separating the two thoughts. I just mean, I can also understand how he was trying to set the record straight about who Obama is & I do not think he purposely meant harm, negativity or prejudice towards anyone else.

Great journal post, voted popular!

BlueO...

It's yet another reason to *not* have McCain/Palin in the White House....where diversity is an ugly word...

Is Arab code for jerk-off!  LOL!  That was great!    He has shown his true colors and will now try backpeddling like he did with "The fundamentals of the economy is strong" fiasco!  Be proud of who you are, don't make excuses, and laugh in the face of diversity!  John McCain is an idiot, you are my friend...you win!!

Voted popular..... ok so all I have to say is " what the hell is going on - has everyone just lost their damn minds".... what happend to common sense... I understand people are scared because to be honest that is what its all about SCARED OF CHANGE .... well its gonna happen either way and it has nothing to do with arabs they can thank the current administration for that..........  the ignorance in this country is beyond what I have ever expected it to be..... do people not realize that this country is a MELTING POT of nations and nationalities and without that the country wouldnt even exists............ OMG how stupid are people these days...... Im so sick and tired of the ignorance I see in people these days...... McCain has lost his damn mind as well in my opinion, thank god for 1 min he said something positive about Obama...... this is freakin ridiculous.....this country and its people should be ashamed of itself ....

McCain is an idiot. Don't worry about him winning. "They" put the economy in the toilet so that they can blame Obama for not fixing it when "they" put him in office. Anyway, his comments go to show how ignorance is perpetuated in this country. People don't know anything except what the media reports and they don't try to research or to know the other side of the story. That being said...they don't try to find out what arabs or muslims are really like. They just take the crap they are fed! You rock, mrningdew!!
