First off, I would like to thank Cafemom for giving me the opportunity to be an influencer in the Yoplait Save Lids to Save Lives campaign. There could not be an easier way to make such a big difference in so many thousands of lives. I certainly hope that I have inspired at least 10 women to be consistent about BSE's and mammograms!
Second...update on the lid drive. It's going ok, I had hoped to be further along than I am, but there is SO much going on right now. I have collected close to 100 lids from posting on craigslist & freecycle. I have gotten about 60 from the carpool lane up at my children's school. I have friends who are collecting lids themselves, as well as at work and family saving their lids for the team. I do not have a total lid count yet, due to the fact that we will be running the drive until December.
I had stated in a previous journal entry that we were going to be holding a BBQ with a "cover" charge. This has been postponed due to the fact that one of my teammates is not doing well at all. I know I am getting a little off subject here, but she could use your prayers. It is my friend, Char. I have spoken of her before. She recently had a double mastectomy. She was recovering quite well, but has had complications....an infection. She was admitted back into the hospital today to have it taken care of. I pray that from here on she will be on her way to a speedy recovery. We don't think she is going to be able to walk now, and it just brakes my heart! She has worked VERY hard for the last 8 months training, fundraising, and promoting breast cancer awareness. I ask that you please keep her and her family in your thoughts and prayers!
I am going to close this entry by saying....The fight is not over yet!! Join a team, keep collecting lids, mail them in....HELP SAVE LIVES!!!
