There are 3 main ways I made my decision on which to use.Cost, availability, and reputation 1. Is cost. I want to use natural cleaners and products in my home, but I am not made of money. Seventh Generation's all purpose (if it were to be bought by the gallon) ends up being $21.96 per gallon, while Shaklee's Basic H (all purpose) is 21 cents per gallon. (It's also concentrated so I only need to use a few drops, mixed in a spray bottle with water.) This means I would only need to buy it about once or twice a year. I don't have the cost of Mela, but to be a member you have to make a minimum monthly purchase or you lose your membership. . With Shaklee I can only buy when I need it. Overall this saves me money. Both Shaklee and Melaluca let me order online, so I won't have to waste gas, or be at a store with other "temptations" to buy... 2. Avaliability. Seventh Generation is available at the local store, but I have to order the other two. If need it now, Seventh Generation wins. However, some products (such as papertowels) are only available from Seventh Generation and not the other two. So I guess it depends on which products I am needing, and if my local store caries them or not. 3. Reputation All 3 have great reputations overall. I know Seventh Generation is a leader in the industry when it comes to things like disposable diapers, wipes, etc. I know both Mela and Shaklee have a rep for NOT testing on animals (although Melaluca will not give this to you in writing.....) I have heard a lot about Shaklee on "Oprah", Good Morning America" and seen them advertised in magazines like "Better Homes and Gardens". When I try to find out about Melaluca, I seem to get the runaround a bit, nothing in writing and I can't even talk to someone about it on the phone without them having a "supervisor" on the line. Mela may be great, but in all honesty, it seems a little shady to me. (Sorry if that offends anyone). I also can see the scientific research behind Shaklee's studies, but have yet to see any Melaluca in writing available to the public. If anyone can show me the research, please message me I would sincerely like to read it. So all in all, for me Shaklee wins. Here is a bit more info on Shaklee for those that may be interested: For cleaners, Shaklee was one of the first to come up with a biodegradable cleaner, and thier Basic H (all purpose) was the official earth day product not long ago. They provide scientific research to anyone that wants to see it, and they have outside companies do reviews and testing on their quality as well. Shaklee's research is available on thier website, and they also answer specific questions about products in writing. They developed the rehydration system that NASA still uses today, and haven never had to recall or a product! I chose Shaklee because it has a reputation that can be documented and research that is available to prove their quality, as well as they are more cost effective for me. If anyone would like more info, please contact me here or through www.shaklee.net/safeshopper and I am happy to talk with you without the pressure of signing you up. The products are great, and so is the business, and I am happy to share about either! Again I hope I have not offended anyone with this post, I am just sharing from my first hand experience. I know a lot of folks love Mela, and I guess the monthly required purchase works well for them, and that is great too. Have a healthy day!
