CBAC's sometimes cannot be helped, right? As a mother you have a right to education for yourself on the risks and benefits of having a CBAC or VBAC. Sometimes it is in favor of the mother and baby to have a CBAC. So how can we accomplish support, education, and awareness for these mothers?
What do you think of the phrase "empowered C-Section"and what does the word empowered mean to you? How do you envision this concept being played out? How would a conversation with your care provider go to ensure you had your desired empowered birth via C-section? Are we really at the mercy of the OB's and hospitals policy when having a C-section? What can be done to make this procedure more gentle and caring for the mother?
We are consumers. Until we start thinking about this subject from a consumer driven point we are never going to get gentler, more caring births for our families when a CBAC or VBAC or even a first time birth. Its my desire to see women become educated and challenge people to think about the health and well being of mothers and babies from a physical, emotional, and spiritual standpoint. I don't see that connection being made in the medical community. I am hopeful that we can rise up together in effort of education, one mother at a time to demand changes in our birthing policies, procedures , and traditions in our community, state, and country.
I just wanted to challenge people to think about this subject more thoroughly. As a HypnoBirthing Childbirth Educator I teach my mothers how to have a calm, gentler, joyous vaginal birth. But my heart aches to reach out to those mothers whom have to have C's. There are things we can do to have a gentler, calmer, more joyous C. If we can come together as a community and embrace the idea and each other.
Sending you all much love and light,
