Motherhood, barrenness, GOD... and some other things

This is in response to a mom who made a post at the CM Newcomers Club.  I wrote a response, and then hit "send" only to find the thread had been deleted.  I'm glad I copied my post before I sent!  So I'm posting it now as a journal entry!  I may come back later and add and/or edit.

Motherhood, barrenness... and some other things :)

To the mom who posted a poll asking about women who cannot have children, and if it is GOD's way of telling them He doesn't want them to have children...  here are my views on that. 

I am a very strong believer as well.  Yet, I do NOT think that every time a woman is unable to get pregnant is because GOD says that person would be a bad mother.  He has His reasons... not necessarily that she would be an unsuccessful parent.  Might it be that He just deems it is not the right time... or He wants her to seek Him for His will (perhaps ministry to children, or adoption,  or foster parenting, etc)  ...wow!  How much LOVE that is in her heart that could be given and lavished upon children who are in the system, abused, orphans, etc.?! 

I came from an abusive home... so I do not see it as GOD not wanting them to have babies ...else, why did MY parents have us and then abuse us (if GOD simply withholds because of the issue of inability to parent well).  I think these things (illness and barrenness) happen... because we are in a sinful, fallen world, period.  These things are present because of the sin we are ALL born into.  GOD can bring good out of barrenness... all they need to do is ASK HIS will... He may choose to heal, or He may lead them to take the medical rout... He may even instruct them NOT to take the medical rout, but to do something else (wait, and/or adopt, or just be content).  I do not think that He'd just have a woman "be content" and then not bring good from it ...it is HIS very nature to take the things in our lives that satan meant for evil, and use it for our good and for the good of others!  I write this to you this way, because you ARE a strong believer... and I feel you will understand where I'm coming from.  ;) 

I do have a very close and dear friend who is childless... she prayed many years, wanting children, she and her husband tried different things medically as well.  But the LORD, thru many heartbreaking years, has given her healing and peace in her heart... that it is NOT because He does not want her to have good things, or that she is somehow defective or would not be a good (WONDERFUL) parent... He has brought her so much understanding of HIS love for her and value ....just because she is HIS creation and HIS child!  Not based on anything she has done or can do.  THEN... He brought her (toward the middle-end of her healing process in this issue) into my life... she is a trained prayer minister/counselor, and I am a multiple (MPD/DID) because of severe abuse from birth till adulthood.  I have alters  who are "infant" and children ...though she is very truthful with them that she is NOT their mommy (they have so desperately cried for "meme" and reached to her as such) ...she never lies to them, though, and tells them that she wished GOD had made her their mommy, but He did not.. but she loves them with "good mommy love" (as opposed to "bad")  ...like one of my little ones asked if she could do  ...that GOD puts in her heart for them!  This has literally been the MOST healing thing for us in our healing... because we did not know love could be a good thing!  But GOD is loving us through her example, and teaching us that we are lovable... to say that she is defective or that GOD sees her as not having ability to parent well, would be completely inaccurate.  (...not that you have hinted that way, but some would say that to ppl like her.) 

I voted "other" on your poll.  ;)  I realize that the previous thread was deleted... I'm very glad I thought to copy my response before I hit "send!"  Let's not make a huge deal... I just wanted to post my thoughts in a loving and rational manner.  :)

I was just looking through journals and your title caught my attention.  I am barren.  My son has come to us through adoption.  I can not believe that someone would post such a disgusting poll.  Thank you for this journal entry.  I believe that I am not able to have children because my child was not to be of my body.  God set me aside to mother my amazing and beautiful boy.

Wow!!  I cannot begin to tell you how moved I am in reading your response!  I'm so so BLESSED that you came by my post...  you are an amazing creation of His ...as is your little son!  HE has indeed set you aside for this wonderful and amazing ministry called "motherhood"  ...to one of His amazing little children!  :)  HUGS!!
