Today I will finish telling about the strange happenings while we lived in the townhouse/duplex in San Antonio, Texas (you can read the beginning of the story, if you missed it by clicking here Do you believe . . . in ghosts? Here's a spooky story from personal experience...
I'll start by saying that shortly after we moved to Texas and into this townhouse/duplex, Mason (my son) told me that he had a playmate. Mason was not quite three at the time. It didn't seem unusual to me that he would have an imaginary playmate so I didn't think anything about it. But . . . I did notice that when he would wake up from a nap, I could hear him upstairs talking and laughing, as if someone was in the room with him. Sometimes it would sound like there was a whole roomful of kids up there with him. Again, I didn't think anything about it because he was a child with an imagination and he's always been able to entertain himself.
The story I am about to relate happened after the spooky experience I had that particular night that I related to you yesterday in Do you believe . . . in ghosts? Here's a spooky story from personal experience...
One Saturday, my hubby is outside cutting the grass. Mason is in his room playing and I am in the bathroom directly across the hall putting makeup on and fixing my hair. I'm standing there looking in the mirror and I can see into Mason's room because it is directlyacross the hallway behind me.
Anyway, I'm putting on my makeup and glance, not at my reflection but behind me in the mirror, and I see the shadow of a man walk by and into my bedroom which is to my right when I'm looking into the mirror. The man appeared to be wearing a Fedora (you know, one of those hats that men use to wear - it's like the kind that Coach Bear Bryant, the sainted football coach at the University of Alabama, wore all the time). The man was taller than me (which is not saying much since I'm only 5'1") but didn't seem as tall as my 6' tall husband. (Okay, the hairs on my arms and the back of my neck are standing up now!)
My first thought was that my husband had left the front door unlocked and someone had come in the house. Then I thought, no, he knows how OCD I am about the doors being locked, especially the front one. Then I thought that the shadowy image I saw was my husband playing a trick on me. It would be just like him to do that since he knew I was already spooked about the place considering the experience I had that night when he had been working and out of town. I was starting to get worked up about it because I certainly didn't think a trick like that was funny.
I went into the bedroom and couldn't find hubby anywhere. I went into Mason's room to check on him (and to see if hubby had slipped into his room while I was contemplating the shadow) and make sure he was okay. Mason was fine, just playing away, and hubby was no where to be seen.
By the time I get to the bottom of the stairs, I am hopping mad at hubby! I checked the front door . . . well, now, that was odd! The front door was locked. Not just with the doorknob lock but the chain was on it also. Okay, I head to the door leading from the kitchen into the garage. It's locked too! The only door that isn't locked is the sliding glass door leading out to the back patio. I take a step outside and there is hubby, cutting the grass. I stomp up and questioned him and he replies that he hasn't been inside since he started cutting the grass.
That's puzzling . . . but I knew he was telling the truth. Otherwise, he would have tracked grass clippings into the house and there wasn't the first sprig of grass evidence to be found anywhere.
So what was that shadowy figure I saw that day? I don't know. I have heard that spirits can attach themselves to objects like pieces of furniture and I did have a couple of very old pieces of furniture plus a couple of antiques. I suppose it's possible that when I had brought one of these pieces home with me, I got more than I had bargained for. The thought also has occurred that it was something more than that . . . odd things were constantly happening next door and I couldn't help but wonder if something bad had happened next door and occasionally the spook next door would wander over to my side of the building!
Who knows . .. but I will tell you that even after we moved into a house in San Antonio, the strange things still continued to happen. But, that's a story for another time . . . . . .

So that leads me to say: Investigate what has happened in your home. I am all curious about ghosts and spooky stuff like this. I am sure if anything strange ever happened to me I would probably pee myself, but I would find a way to investigate. Thanks for sharing.
