Found this list for what-to-pack-in-your-hospital-bag - Figured I wouldn't lose it this way!! *lol*
1. A comfy sweat suit or warm pajamas. Forget the drafty hospital-issued gowns: wearing your own clothes will help you feel more comfortable and relaxed. Add in some comfortable slippers as well - and front-button tops to make breast-feeding easier. Also - Don't forget a robe if you want to walk around the hospital halls!
2. Important paperwork. This includes your birth plans, insurance card, and any other information the hospital staff will find helpful.
3. Something to read. Time passes quickly when you have some favorite magazines and a good book on hand. Don't forget book or magazines for Daddy as well.
4. A prepaid phone card. Many hospitals charge extra for phone service and some dont allow cell phones in the labor and delivery areas. A prepaid phone card and your address book will help keep you connected with loved ones so you can share the good news. Also, cell phone and charger, if you have them. Picture messaging is a lifesaver for family members out-of-state!
5. A hair band or barrettes. They'll keep the hair out of your face during delievery.
6. Toiletries. Pack a toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, lip balm (hospital air can be really dry), a hairbrush, and moisturizer.
7. Drinks and snacks. The rumors about hospital food are true. Bring your own stash of healthy favorites ( raisins and granola bars are good choises) and you wont have to subsist on ginger ale and saltines. Bring what you want, just sneak them in! Don't forget lollipops or hard candies to suck on during active labor.
8. Shampoo/conditioner, deodorant and shower gel. The shower you take after delivery is the most refresting you'll ever have. Make it even better with some great smelling shampoo and soap. Also, bring make-up if you are inclined to want it for when visitors start to pop by the hospital.
9. Your own pillow. After all the stress and excitement, you'll want a comfy place to rest your head. Boppy pillow for baby and breast-feeding as well.
10. A going home outfit for baby. This might include footed pajamas, a paid or socks or botties, a receiving blanks, and a cap. Most important - Dont for get the CAR-SEAT!!!!
11. A going home out for you. Select something rommy and comfortable. And go with flat shoes; right now you need comfort over style..
12. Digital Camera and batteries. You won't want to have to send your hubby running off to the pharmacy to pick up a disposable or batteries when you could be spending time together with baby.
13. Sleeper, hat, and booties for baby. Cute clothes you picked out yourself to show baby off in when people come by to visit at the hospital. Include packed diaper bag with diapers, wipes, burp cloths, warm blanket (if delivering in cold weather), and other essentials.
14. Travel size toiletries. Baby powder, Johnson's wash, particulars for baby. Also bring sanitary pads, nursing pads, etc. for you. Deodorant, razor and shaving cream for Daddy.
15. Cds or DVDs to watch during labor. If you don't have the attention span to concentrate on a book, bring episodes of a favorite TV show on DVD or collection of short cartoons.
16. Extra underwear! Bring "granny panties". If they get ruined, it won't be a loss. And they will be. Bring several extra pairs.
17. Notebook or birthing book. There are plenty of things you'll want to write down while you're there. And plenty of time to do it, too!
18. Laptop computer. Makes uploading pictures and information that much simpler.
19. Change of clothes for Daddy! Remember, he'll be in there the whole time, and probably sweating just as much as you. He'll want something comfortable to change into as well.
20. Pregnant woman!! Please do not leave this one at home.
