OK so NOW back to TODAY!!  This week I have been busy preparing for our newest Christmas Tradition, A Shelf Elf.  There is a book/kit you can purchase to start the Elf on a Shelf tradition THE ELF ON THE SHELF I howeve am just doing my own :)  Not only my own but a few others too.  Our Elf, Skeeter Jingle Peppermints, will be one busy guy this holiday season, He started his own MySpace to keep in touch with friends.  He doesn't have pictures up yet but I will let you know as soon as he does :)  He will arrive some time after thanksgiving to spend the holidays with us and report nightly to Santa.

A few websites I found helpful in my ideas were http://magicalholidayhome.com/elves/  http://magicalholidayhome.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=31  http://www.elf-magic.com/index.html  http://organizedchristmas.com/magic-elf-holiday-tradition

Basically the elves arrive sometime between Thanksgiving and Christmas, each night the kids have to put him to bed in his sleeping back with magic snow, to keep him cool, and after the kids go to bed the Elf will investigate the house to be able to make the most accurate reports back to Santa.  Durring his investigations he will get into all sorts of mischeif, (I will be calling these Elfcapades) He will do things like try to make cookies and end up playing in the ingredients...  (making snow angels out of sugar or flour).  he will peak in our gifts under the tree and find a Christmas DVD and be caught having a popcorn party while watching it.  And numerous other things.  I have put alot of thought into making this as magical as possible :)

I have 6 elves for sure that I will be placing in homes. As I said Skeeter will be staying with us, his twin sister, Penelope Twinkle Peppermints, will be visiting my nephew and his little sisters, The Peppermint Twins' little sister, Sassafras Sparlin Peppermints, will be traveling with my parents, she is one of Mrs Claus lead Seamstresses and will be making all sorts of goodies :)  Rubble Jynx Pinecone-Peppermints (RJ) will be heading off to my sisters house to watch over her two boys.  Mable Merry Mistletoe is heading to California to vist my Brother and his family for the season.  And Emerald Dustyflake, is still on the waiting list for needing a home.  I am also considering making a few more, these 6 were the first ideas I had and used in a story on Skeeter's myspace.  I am going to talk to Preston's Kindergarten teacher and see if she would like a magical elf to watch the class room (perhaps this will intise the kids to be on their best behaviors over Christmas?)  And I also may do a travel'n elf that will visit the different friends.  I am hoping to make this as fun as possible :)

One of the things our elf is going to bring is a kindness box....just an empty decorated box for the kids to fill with notes. As they "catch" others being kind they will write it down and put it in the box. We will read them all Christmas Eve

Just finished getting my first elf mostly completed, it was alot more work than I had anticipated it would be LOL, but he turned out pretty cute, he just needs eyes and a mouth and some clothes!  This will probably be the only one I make the head on, It took me three tries to get a decent looking head and I was confused as to how to attatch it to the body so had to make a few adjustments.. its cute, but a pain in the you know what!! so anyhow with out further a-do......

More to come so stay tuned!!

I would like to share with you today one of my most FAVORITE Christmas websites http://organizedchristmas.com/ Hope you are all having a GREAT week!!
