This is weird. I have not been on the market for some time ( I was married to someone else for 8 years previous to marrying Doug and I met Doug online) and honestly, although I always tried to look nice and never really had a problem getting a man, I didn't get whole lot of guys banging down my door at formerly 300 lbs, so am a bit out of the loop. I have had men notice me more since I lost weight, but this one is just weird.
We have a new-ish UPS guy. I order a lot of stuff online and especially lately have been doing xmas shopping so I get a couple deliveries a week. Often I am not home, and until last week, he will either leave the slip for me to sign in case I am not home next time or he will leave it on the porch. No big deal. But the last two times I was here and he was just weird...like I remember boys in high school acting. LOL.
For instance, I was wearing this hoodie that says "Delirious?" on the front is this weird sort of roman looking font. He comes to the door and while I am signing his little eletronic thing he is clearly staring at my chest and then says, "What does your shirt say?" I say, "Oh, Delirious...it's a band." He goes, "Oh yeah! Delirious! They rock." I just said, "yeah they do." and he tells me to have a nice day and he is off.
Okay, seriously....have any of you ever heard of Delirious? Unless you are British (where they get regular mainstream radio play) or into kind of Old School Christian Rock (they only get Christian Rock radio play here and have not had anything out here in a few years), you probably have no idea who they are. MAYBE he knows them but just the way he said it was so fake.
Okay, next visit, I am upstairs getting Norah ready for school and the doorbell rings. I run down and open the door. It's him. I have on jeans, sweater, make-up...I look decent....it was Norah's bday. He says, "Hi Bettie," like we are friends. And then says, "Did I catch you working out? You sound really out of breath." I am no where looking like I was working out! I just said, "Oh no, I was just upstairs getting my daughter ready for school." (BTW...Doug was coming down the steps during this exchange and heard him. He is not threatened...although maybe he SHOULD be lately...LOL I'M KIDDING...and, after he was gone, said, "That guy was hitting on you!")
So, on to today. Seth and I are walking home from taking Norah to school (Seth is in a stroller) and I see the UPS truck turn off of my street (I knew I was getting a package today). Even with my hood up, mittens and scarf on and pushing a stroller, he still recognizes me and smiles and waves at me as he passes. I wave back and think I will have a package on my porch when I get home.
No...I have one of those little signature cards saying that I need to sign for my packages and he will re-deliver tomorrow. Here is the thing though, eventhough he left this card for me to sign (typically you can sign it and leave it out there and they'll leave your box the next day if you are not home), he checks the box that says to sign and writes "IN PERSON" next to it! I call UPS and use their automated system to change the delivery until Wednesday afternoon because I will be in and out tomorrow and he obviously is requiring me to be here for the delivery.
On a whim, I called Toys R Us and asked if they require me to be present to sign for the package...they say no!
So is this guy trying to see me again? What would you think? It's really flattering if that is what he is doing, but doesn't he see my big wedding ring? Or doesn't he care? Maybe he is just enjoying flirting knowing it can't ever go anywhere?
What do you think?
Comments:
He's really cute and I'm flattered but I take my marriage vows (even in not to great times) VERY seriously, so nothing will happen here. I am sure of that.
Hard telling.....be careful. You do look awful hot lately though.....lol
The 2 delivery guys that deliver here at work are often OVERLY friendly for whatever reason.
Me thinks you think too much. lol If he is flirting, enjoy. If not, be thankful for a pleasant and friendly UPS guy. :) Love you.
Stay inspired!
Maybe I am am over analyzing it a bit. It just feels weird. Hes not creepy or anything....I'm just not used to this I guess.
my husband works for ups and i hear all the stories. alot of the guys are friendly and talk quite a bit especially if they've gotten to know you. From what you posted it just sounds like he's being nice. People complain wayyyyyyyy to much so just to avoid the drama alot of drivers will do that. Trust me..talking from personal experience. You get more bees with honey...P.S. If you really wanna find out the deal wait till after Christmas most of the niceness goes downhill b\c the major tipping is over.![]()
yes they do especially in nice areas. My guy brings home "every christmas and xtra 500-1000.00 dollars. Depends on your route, customers, and of course your attitude. They pick up as well as deliver.
My brother is an UPS driver it is amazing the things he gets for Christmas. He once received a leather coat. I could not tell you how many gift certificates for clothes for his wife, photography certificates when his children were born. and a lot of money. You know they get paid well and for the most part the company treats them well, so most of the drivers are nice. On another note I would enjoy it. As long as it is just friendly, if it goes any further or you feel scared, then you will need to do something.

A Boy with Autonomic Dysfunction - The Miller Family
Our Special Life
Oliver was born after having suffered a stroke while in his mother's womb. The resulting brain injury is called Dysautonomia (Autonomic Dysfunction). His doctors believe the stroke was the result of the miscarriage of his twin. Oliver is completely blind and his underdeveloped brain stem makes basic physical functions a challenge. In spite of all this, he is a happy, go-lucky, 12-year-old boy, and his mom wants people to meet the real Oliver, not just his medical hardships.

It may or may not be. Having been a carrier once I wouldn't assume to much. I would suggest to be careful either way. Afterall, people don't always intend to screw up. It just happens. Better safe than sorry. ;)
