I was inspired yesterday by this website. Easy halloween hats! Only limited by my imagination! The 1 1/2 year old is going to ride in the stroller as his brother is trick-or-treating and he has no costume... so this is it!

It's made from all scrap fabric. The red base is from one of my husband's old dress shirts that was stained by a green crayon in the wash. It is lined in scrap fleece. The nose and flames are also scrap fleece, hand sewn on. The eyes and spikes are green felt. I cut a slit in each eye and the sparkle within is an acrylic gold jewel.

Pretty cute, huh? The instructions at the website are extremely easy. The hat part took me 1/2 hour-ish. Sewing on the other stuff by hand took more time... maybe 45 min- hour? So will you be inspired to sew up a quick hat or two? :-)
(I've also got to recommend this awesome beet/pear puree recipe that we tried tonight. I added some vegetable stock to make it a little soupier. So yummy!]

I love the hat! It's adorable. I just finished altering Brian's tiger costume I got at Goodwill with an old orange fleece sweater also bought at Goodwill b/c the whole thing was a bit too small for Brian. He refuses to wear anything else, so I altered it.
I got Marcos a bee costume at the Goodwill, but he just told me the other day that he didn't really wanna be a bee, he wanted to be a vampire, so I whipped up a cape and matched it with old white button up shirt and black slacks from a wedding a few years ago. I had to let the hems completely out of the pants and split the back of the shirt though 'cause he's grown a lot. For his vampire costume, I only had to purchase $0.20 piece of foam to make the collar of the cape and $2 vampire facepaint kit.
