Finally, I am free.
Tonight, I am officially a free woman... err, well- actually I am far from being free. I am a wife and mother to three small children- however, I can now say that I am no longer a milk makin' machine. No longer is my body at the whim of a young one- whose very whimper would send my body into the quivers of milk production- engorged, leaky breasts...
Now, don't get me wrong. I loved nursing. I loved the look that my babies got when they happily nursed away. The way they roll their eyes back... the breathy happiness that only comes when a baby loves what their getting. Mother Nature's way of letting me know that I am doing the best thing for my child.
When my daughter was born, I made the decision to nurse for her first year. She was going to be our only child and I wanted to give her everything. However, 2 months after I quite nursing- I found myself pregnant again... wow. What a shock. We had our wonderful little boy- who I nursed for 11 months. I would have nursed him for the full year- but I was diagnosed with mono and I had to wean early. I was starting to feel better when BAM! 2 months later, I was pregnant again.
Let's do some math...
Pregnancy #1= 36 weeks
Pregnancy #2= 39 weeks
Pregnancy #3= 36 weeks
Total= 111 weeks or 27 3/4 months
Nursing Child #1= 12 months
Nursing Child #2= 11 months
Nursing Child #3= 12 months
Total= 34 months
27.75+35+4 (2 months of normal body between pregnancies.)
For a grand total of 67.5 months- or 5 years of being either pregnant or nursing!
While I love my babies... that is one long amount of time!
So, you can understand (hopefullly) why I am so glad to have my breast back in a condition that I can once again consider them to be mine! lol

Enjoy the freedom but cherish the memories. I remember doing the math. It is overwhelming to look at the time.
